Well, for me, it's just Christmas Eve. But that's OK. I'm thankful that we have people from several different cultures using our forum.

I made a trip to the grocery store today; it was mobbed. Rested in bed and cuddled with the cats. Paid my property taxes.

Soon it will be time to go to church. Then home and to bed. Some families make a big deal of Christmas Eve, but in my family, it was always a non-event; we just went to bed.

I think no matter what your lifestyle--married, single, etc.--there are times when you wish it were otherwise. On the whole, I love being single, and while I've never ruled out being married, I really can't imagine enjoying it as much as I enjoy being single. But on "family" holidays, it's hard not having any family. I don't have siblings, either.

A few years ago when a friend was in the hospital on Christmas, and I wound up hospital-sitting for part of Christmas Day, I realized I was grateful for the opportunity to be where I was most needed that day, without having to worry about family obligations. And while I don't wind up hospital-sitting every Christmas, I nearly always have a friend with whom to spend the holiday. So I am very fortunate every day of the year, because I have many people who care about me, and I care for many people in return.

And I am so thankful for this forum and the wonderful people who use it.
