Good morning all - It's kind of fun to start the thread but then I don't get to reply to everyone (or not til later, anyway, since I can't seem to stay off of here!) Had my English breakfast tea - off to the shower after this.
Yesterday's migraine pretty much gone by bedtime. Danny's a little worn down with all the migraines and kid turmoil - I've got to see what I can come up with to make his b-day really special on Weds. This morning Rach was chipper and pleasant and made the bus off to her exams. Adam just couldn't seem to wake up - moved like molasses, missed the bus and was a bear when I drove him. He also apparently got his Axe deodorant in spray form this time - I thought I was going to choke going down the hall! Told him we have to stick with roll-on, I don't want that heavy scent triggering me again! Fairly busy day ahead with 3 client meetings and a bunch of web work. I did manage to stretch and a little bit of meditating this a.m. I also have to plan D's b'day! MJ I hope your mattress comes on time. I know what you mean with cleaning up so Mom doesn't do it for you. My dear MIL (and I do mean dear - I really loved her) had been dead for 8 years and I was still finding things she broke by taking them apart to clean them! I kind of miss that! Thoughts going to Eileen today with her cousin's funeral. - Megs |

I'm here early. I'd gotten my post written and hit the wrong key somehow, and the forum program dumped it. So this is my revised post.
I haven't done the dog walk thing yet. He's sleeping soundly. He had a rough night, itching and scratching. He likes to sleep leaning up next to me, so I was awake a good bit last night. Every time I moved away from him, he managed to move up against me again. And scratch. He had a conditioning flea bath followed by medicated conditioner last night, but he's still itching. He goes tomorrow for a followup on his bladder infection, and I'll ask what we can do about it. He probably won't be able to get his usual steroid shot because of the infection. He started Tramadol for his arthritis last week, and I wonder if this is an allergic reaction. The Tramadol is traumatic for him. I have to squirt it into his mouth with a syringe. They had to have the compounding pharmacy make it up in a weak dose for a 16-pound dog. I'm not sure it's much better than the NSAID he was taking before. Gotta weigh in at Diet Center. My name is mud over there...I bounced a check. Haven't bounced a check in years, but I lost track of what I'd written from my account. A check to DS for two months spending money put me into overdraft. I usually write that check from a savings account because it's so big. Don't know why I wrote it from my checking account. Can I blame migraines? Yesterday was rough. My abortives did a lousy job, and I was out of my rescue. Shame on me. I'm getting it and lots of other stuff refilled today, including all 3 forms of Imitrex. And 3 of DH's meds. I'm on a first-name basis with my pharmacist. Started out today with a 3, which morphed into a 5/6. Took my triple threat attack, Anaprox, Skelaxin, and Imitrex. It's brought it down to a 2. Huzzah! I hope today is GREAT for everyone! I'm early.
My new sleep routine is not working. The medicine the doctor gave me, klonopin, is giving me heart palpitations. Other seizure medications I tried for migraine control gave me heart palpitations, and since klonopin can be used for seizure disorder.....well, I'm not surprised. I am, I'm very disappointed, but after looking at the side effects on rxlist.com, I'm not surprised. So I have a call into the doctor. And last night I abandoned all other aspects of my sleep routine becauase I was mad. Slept better last night than the two previous nights. I am ready to throw in the towel already. Morning everyone!
On my list to do today (other than work) is to call both my neuro and my HA specialist. I'm calling my neuro to get a scrip to lower my nortriptyline dose back to 40 mg. I'm at 50 mg right now and the side effects are just too much for me to handle - constipation, increased appetite (especially for sugar). Since my HA specialist plans to eventually get me off this med, I'm going to ask to reduce the dosage. I'm calling my HA specialist to find out about the Botox. She said 2-3 weeks, and today is 3 weeks, so I'm calling. I'm getting very impatient! Other than that, the exciting news is that we got a sprinkling of snow here overnight! There was more snow north of here so a few people from my team are out/late. Since I walk to work I didn't have a problem getting here. Megs, that cracks me up about your MIL. When DBF and I were packing to move to our current apartment, I swear we found some things my mom had "put away" months before. And now we can't find them again. Gretchen, I hate when I lose track of my money and overdraw my checking account. That happened this month with the rent. Deb, I'm sorry to hear your new sleep routine isn't working. Good for you for calling your doctor. I hate when I can't sleep. It just makes everything worse. Let us know what your doc says, ok? Everyone else, hope your Monday is going well! -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ Why do I capitalize Migraine? Good Morning,
Megs, you are the early bird this morning. I know you will come up with something fun for Danny B-day and I glad that Rachel was chipper this morning. Zach was a little grumpy, but we made it to school on time with a smile on. Gretchen, I hope your dog is feeling better soon and I hope you stay at a 2. I got my finger crossed for you Deb, I am so sorry you are having such a rough time with your meds. Hopefully, the doc can come up with something that works. I hate heart palpatations. I had them last night. They are truly scary. My heart goes out to you As for me, it is still raining. I have a migraine in the shadows, but it has not appear yet, so I have my fingers crossed. My brother-in-law is having surgery today, so DH and I are going to the hospital to be with my sister. For all those who come on after me, I hope everyone has migraine free happy mondays and a hug for those who are not feeling well Dar |

I'm back! Up 1//4 pound this week. Boo-hoo. But not too bad after not exercising and being out of town last week.
DebHOST -- I've been taking Ambien for years, and several years ago we added Moban, an antipsychotic with a drowsiness side effect. I've taken trazadone, an antidepressant, for sleep as well. DH doesn't have trouble getting to sleep, but he'll wake up in the middle of the night. His sleep doctors prescribed Sonata, which puts him back to sleep and doesn't make him groggy in the morning. I hope today gets better for everyone! Gretchen in Mississippi High about 65 today. Rain tomorrow and Thursday. No snow yet! |

Howdy y'all,
I'm actually having a good day today. Doing data entry and found JUST the right angle for the lighting in my office. I'm actually REALLY psyched, and wonder if it's just good for today, or if it's going to stick. If I finally got the lamps in the right area, I'm going to be jazzed. I'm supposed to be tapering off the klonopin that I use each night for bed, as it wasn't working right, and we were going to try and stop it and try something else. However, too many meds are being played with at the same time, and I need to call my psychiatrist and talk about how to go- I need some med stability, and the klonopin started working again when combined with the second dose of the amitriptyline. So, my sleep stuff is all messed up too. I feel your pain, Deb! However, I'm tired at weird times, and I'm falling a- nap at 8pm... uggh. I need some caffeine- it's been a long day. Eileen, if you're reading this, mega-hugs, girl! Megs, and Gretchen- Let's hear it for the red headed migraineurs! My hair is normally reddish brown, but you can't tell that in my profile pic. MJ- good luck with getting the nortriptyline reduced. Tawsha- hope you're doing well Everyone else- Sorry I missed responding to you! It's hard being late in getting in here- everyone else has already gotten in and chatted all day, and it's too much for this brain to process... Jamie Forum Moderator |

My hair is currently red, but it's certainly not its natural color. I'm a fairly dark brunette but I really love my hair in red. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ Why do I capitalize Migraine? I tried trazadone - too many bathroom visits.
Can I ask when you take your ambien? Is it right at bedtime? I was taking it a couple of hours before bed and the sleep doctor had me move it to bedtime and that's when I laid awake for two hours.

Good afternoon everyone! I am going to have my peach tea later tonight.
I woke up without a migraine! yea! I actually walked on the treadmill, but very slow so not as to bring the beast about. I'm no dummy. I fixed part of our coffee table that was broken. (Being migraine free also makes me handy as well as intelligent!) And I drove to the grocery and spend over $200 to fill up our cabinets. Being migraine-free makes me spendy! Now I'm going to make a nice celebratory dinner for myself as this is one of the nights DH doesn't get home til after 9pm. Too much to reply too so...hope you all have a good afternoon/evening! I woke up with a migraine, and I was fairly sure this one was triggered by a tightly clenched jaw during the night--my jaw was still sore. I don't think that's typical of me. I wear a hard plastic mouth guard at night. I very rarely wake up with a migraine. I talked with a co-worker today who had lots of migraines triggered by jaw-clenching until she got a soft plastic mouth guard. So I guess I'll see if this continues to be a problem for me.
I think my current meds are definitely reducing the severity of my migraines, and my Axert is working faster. Once the hormones let go in this current cycle, maybe I can get back to a pain-free stretch. So here's hoping everyone with food triggers and/or sleep problems eats and sleeps well. Everyone, take care. |

Welcome to droolie's corner o' the planet, where sleep deprivation roolz. It's my own fault, really. I thought my generic pseudoephedrine product was the 4-6 hour one, and took three yesterday. Oops. It turned out to be the 12-hour kind. So I had an extra one last night, which gave me insomnia. But, like a good little trooper I went to school, and really, other than being a proverbial snot faucet, did okay today. If I don't sleep well tonight, I might stay home tomorrow. But I am feeling a bit better this afternoon.
Those silly hrududu gremlins are at it again, too. My "S" light is on, and a relay rattles like mad under the dash when in park. So tomorrow it goes back to the shop. I see, in my Google travels, lots of references to the Transmission Control Unit and TCU codes, and some things involving the main relay, which is what seems to be chattering madly. I'm going to tell Mr. Shop Manager Steve that I'm tired of visiting him constantly. One thing I noticed, though, while Googling, is that the main relay is right next to the cooling fan timing unit, which is what they replaced last week. I wonder if something got "bumped". Guess they'll check the codes and see. I'd go peek myself and see if they're flashing our of sheer curiosity, but you have to pull back carpet, and it's a windchill of below zero out there. So...uh-uh! I was supposed to take my Gram to her MRI today, but she cancelled it so I wouldn't have to drive her in the cold and snow. Really, though, the streets aren't bad. So, just another adventurous day in droolieland. Dragondrool Forum Moderator ~~8=:>>>> |

Hi everyone!
Just stopping by to say hi to you all. There are tons of replies I could write, but not enough time tonight! Please just know you all are in my thoughts tonight... I've been thinking about the sleep issue so many of us have...I've been having a more difficult time with it lately since adding nortryptline to my preventives. Funny, nortryptline was supposed to make me sleepy, but no dice! Were the sleep issues there for all of you before you began taking daily migraine meds? In my case I feel much of it comes as a result of the anti depressants I take (Effexor and nortryptline). Melatonin is what my doctor wants me to use...but I haven't started it yet. Had a preschool parent-teacher conference for my littlest one today. The whole idea of having a parent-teacher conference for a preschooler seems crazy to me, but I went anyway. All good things were said. He has one best friend and usually plays with trucks and trains (all of which I already knew). He needs to get better at making lower-case "a". Teacher said he is "a joy" and she will miss him. I think he's pretty great too--but I am a little biased.... Anyway, I'll stop by again when I can! Thinking of you all and wishing you a happy Monday night! |
