Good early morning gang,
The beast came back last night. We had a front move through so that combined with the dentist playing grind the teeth for four hours (yes, I was in the chair from 10:00 until 2:00!) triggered another migraine. Oh, well, I will be headed back to bed for a bit and then back on here later on. Hope everyone else is feeling better Laura Forum Moderator ***You're welcome to enter your birthday, etc in the Celebrate folder so we can party with you!! =) *** |

Ugh Laura!
Go back to bed my dear!!! Hope you feel better soon! I am still sleepy. Took the Amitriptyline like an hour and a half earlier so I am a little better. I think that's the trick. Wow, did I get slammed last night with a migraine. Whoa, baby...I had forgotten that such beasties occur with such ferocity- which is a good thing- until it came along. I still have it hanging on for dear life today- down to about a 4 from the 8 that it was at its peak. So, I guess I'm feeling better
I get to spend today transcribing, which is not migraine friendly... but it has to get done, so, it's time to "what you do with a straw" it up and just deal. Eileen- I wish the amitriptyline made me sleepy. You're lucky! Laura- feel better! I know our weather last night was yucky. Perhaps you 're dealing with the same system? I get to do the dentist thing next week. And probably for about the same amount of time in the chair. But I've started wearing my c-collar when I have to do so, and my neck doesn't get as messed up from the positioning. My dentist was alarmed at first, but he got used to it. Ok, off to work I go. Hugs to all! Jamie Forum Moderator |

Sorry you got hit so bad Jamie!! And still, to be at a "4" is still nothing to joke about!!!! "4"'s stink!!!! anything over a 1-2 is dreadful to me!
Hang in there!!! Oh and I think the "sleepy side effect" is wearing off now - so I guess it's back to melatonin now. I got some great sleep - but alas, all good things must come to an end. Plus DH has the sniffles now so that's not pleasant. He never gets sick so he is just misearable now! I feel so bad for him! Hey peeps -
So sorry Laura & Jamie got slammed. It's gray, rainy, very windy here - weather.com says an 8 on the aches & pains index - not good news for me & Eileen Eileen I tend to think of the melatonin as not a drug - it's what your body naturally makes when you sleep, so more of just a supplement. In Sex, Lies & Menopause (all about hormones), T.S. Wiley says that one of the reasons we go hormonally haywire in our 30's on is we have had years of artificial light past when we would "naturally" go to sleep in the days of candle-light. She says our body clocks were set thousands of years before electric light, and we start making melatonin about 3 hours before midnight, and if we can't be going to bed then ( Anyhoo - finally got my web stuff to work late last night when I should have been off the computer So far, feeling okay and really hope to keep it that way for D's b-day! Love the b-day wishes thread, will be sharing it with him soon. Feel better, one and all. - Megs |

Good morning.
There is so much to do today between home and work, but I'm distracted. I'm waiting for information back from a scan my father had done this past weekend. We are hoping the symptoms he is experiencing does not mean his cancer has spread. The waiting is hard. The girls are playing well this morning though. I set out a blanket and gave them tupperware, spoons, and some teacups. It seems the simple things are the best fun. Laura, I hope you're feeling better by the afternoon. Those fronts are so frustrating! Eileen, I used to take amitriptyline, and it made the mornings quite sleepy for me too. Jamie, I'm glad to know that at least your pain is going down. Hang in there! I read a quote this morning that made me smile, so I thought I'd share it with you all: "Good morning. This is God. I will be handing all of your problems today. I will not need your help. So, relax and have a great day." I hope your day has a few smiles in store for you. Liz |

Today is a sunny, and cold, day.
I'm still shaking my head over the weather yesterday. The enormous temperature drop made the record books here - something like the 10th biggest drop ever. Tomorrow we are under a winter weather advisory. Weather Bug is saying at least six inches - they'd better call off school Thursday night so we can sleep in; well, not so much sleep in for me. Jamie and Laura I hope you feel better. Liz, I hope you get good news for your dad. Deb [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/] |

Liz- I hope you hear good news back. I hear you on the waiting thing. Waiting for anything is very hard.
Deb- Yesterday the weather was crazy here too! During the day it was 50 degrees adn when I went to bed it was -1!! Right now my weather bug says without windchill it is -2; with windchill -20. yikes. I'll be covering up every inch of skin when I go out today! Everyone else seems to be slammed with head-pain. (Except Eileen, you are the sleepy one. I wasn't here yesterday, so I gotta update ya'll. Yesterday I felt good, so I jammed everything in. It is like one of those things where you feel like making the most of every moment. Well, I couldn't have fit more into yesterday if I wanted to. I did my pilates and then I cleaned and cleaned and then cleaned some more. My house was sooooo dirty. I have this new cook book, Deceptively Delicious. I love it. It is supposed to be if you are cooking for kids. I don't have kids, of course, but I like to cook healthy, and these are healthier recipies. And they are new ideas anyway. Today I feel the beast at my door. But I'm batting it away because I have a counseling appt. and I really want to go to. I'm also going to try to clean the bathroom. But, I'm not going to overdo it today. Yesterday exhausted me! Hoping your all's pain comes down. I think I'm as awake as I'm going to get!!! LOL
Megs, yeah Melatonin is really a suppliment, but it's still a pill I have to take so I put it in the "drug" catagory since it's not food and it comes in pill form. It's just another bottle to clutter up my night stand....which by the way is just filled now and spilled over into the drawer as I'm sure most of yours has too! I have 2 different bottles of Topamax (one 25mgs, one 50mgs) my Jolessa, Melatonin, amitriptyline, Axert, Frova, Skelaxin, Vicodin (which I've now retired to the drawer) my water, my clock and a book. Whew! I think there's more stuff there but I forget. Yep a regular medicine cabinet. On DH's side, a clock and water. Oh, to have nothing wrong with you!!! Hi everyone!
The good news is the side effects from my higher dosage of nortriptyline (50 mg) are much better now that I've taken the 40 mg for two nights. The increased appetite is mostly gone, and the constipation is much better. Unfortunately my magnesium is working too well at, uh, moving things along so I think I'll have to decrease that again too. My mom is flying in tonight from MA. She'll be visiting for about a week. It will be good to see her again. Plus, I think she's going to paint the master bedroom in our apartment. My mom loves painting. I already know what I want in there I just haven't had the energy to do it. Our weather is cool and cloudy today, but about average for winter. I heard that Snoqualmie Pass in the Cascades (not that far east of here) had 18" of snow yesterday, with another 8-14" expected overnight. It's supposed to continue snowing today with heavy snow again tomorrow. The pass was closed all day yesterday due to avalanche - not sure if they got it back open yet. Good ski season out west this year! Liz, I'm sending you good thoughts today. For those of you fighting off the beast, hope that you feel much better soon. For those of you feeling good, hope it stays that way! Have a great Wednesday, everyone! -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ Why do I capitalize Migraine? Hi everyone!
Deb, that wacky weather that got you the other day seems to have flown over here to PA! Last night we had a huge drop in temperature and the winds were unbelievable! Stuff was knocked down all over town! The wind blew a tree down in our back yard. In the front, some branches were tap-tap-tapping on my son's window. It woke him up and he got so scared that he was hysterical! I finally brought him into our bed to sleep. He thought a giant bug was trying to get into his room! Now, Deb, if you could manage to send some of that really deep, heavy snow my way, I would be THRILLED! My kids have had a new sled since LAST Christmas--haven't gotten a good enoug snowfall yet to use it! Laura, I'm hoping you'll feel better quick--sitting in the dentist's chair that long would be rough on anyone!! Eileen, glad to hear you're adjusting to the new med! Sorry to hear DH is feeling under the weather though. Don't catch his cold!! Sleep on the sofa if you have to!!! Jamie, aw man! What a rotten night for you! Megs, I'll have to try that tip for my melatonin! I'm starting it this weekend. Happy birthday to DH! (It just so happens, it is my DH's birthday, too!! Liz, I will keep you and your family in my prayers today! I loved your quote--I think I'll make it into a little sign and post in on my fridge!! Kelly, I'm so happy you had such a nice day yesterday! So good to have a day without pain, huh? Dar, enjoy your day! And good luck to Zach! MJ, how nice that your Mom's coming to visit! And what a plus if she paints the room, too!! As I said to Deb, please try to send a little of your snow our way...We need a big, bad, HUMUNGOUS snowfall here so we can all stay home and play! Thinking of you all today! Take good care of yourselves! |

Eileen you definitely described my night table too! You made me laugh. The wastebasket is right in front of it and sometimes I knock my glasses, pills, etc into the garbage at night.

LOL, you guys have me cracking up about the nightstand. I've broken down and am now using a shelf. I should take a picture and post it for you guys. Megs, I usually knock one of my (many) pillows into my trash can at night. I keep my meds on top of my dresser in my walk-in closet. It looks like a pharmacy in there, between the nortriptyline, magnesium, B2, C, multi vitamin, Zyrtec, Frova and Imitrex, plus I have some old meds I no longer take squirreled away in there too (most of several different formulations).
Eileen, DBF and I are not going anywhere remotely warm. We're spending a long weekend on the Pacific Ocean just outside of Olympic National Park (on the "thumb" part of WA state). We will be near the rainforest, so I guess that's sort of tropical. (Not really.) We'll be staying there three nights in an ocean view room! Even if I'm not feeling well we can at least drive around the park. I can't wait!! The place we're staying at isHERE. We're going for a long weekend that falls between Valentine's Day and our anniversary (March 1), so we're both really excited. Jenny, I'll try to send some snow your way, but we don't have any on the ground where I am. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ Why do I capitalize Migraine?
