Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is doing better today then they were yesterday, my gosh, it was a rough one for a lot of us and our family members.

I had a pretty bad Migraine yesterday and was dreading going into work. I have to get myself back into that "grin and bear it" mode again, not an easy task as you guys know. Thankfully, the delivery truck didn't show up while I was there so I was spared having to unload it, whew!

Today is nuts. Just crazy, crazy. I'm waiting for DH to call so I can run DD up to the base for her ID card if we have time before our dentist appointment. He had a doctor's appointment at the base near our house so this would be the prime time to do it since he's already missing work this morning. Then, after the dentist we have to go back to the base for flu shots, I hope, I'm still not sure they still have them. Then I've got errands to run so I'll drag the kids along for that.

DS#2 is still fighting his crud and when I called the school to report the absence they said just send a note, I guess a lot of kids have the same thing. NOT Swine Flu, just regular flu. Now DH isn't feeling so hot himself so I plan on stocking up on the OJ and drinking bunches of it to ward off the germs.

Have a better day then yesterday everyone!

Morning, all.

It's been a while since I've been on. I've been having some medical issues the last couple of weeks. And, they aren't migraine related. A week ago last Monday I ended up at the ER for severe abdonimal pain. This is the second time this year that I've gone to the ER for this pain. The last time was back in March. Only this time I have been having a constant pain in side and back, too.

The blood work that I had at the hospital and at my doctor's office (now three times-four counting the hospital) shows that my liver function is abnormal or high. The pain I have constantly is sometime almost unbareable. My doctor asked me if any of my meds have changed in the last month. Nothing has changed. I can't even tell you the last time I've had alcohol. I'm taking Hydrocodone daily which takes the edge off the pain.

My doctor did some more lab work yesterday. After getting the results from these tests, she is going to send me to a gastrologist. She is puzzled as to what is irritating my liver. At the ER, they did a CT scan and an ultrasound of my abdomen.

One bright side is that the procedure that I had three weeks ago seems to be helping my neck and shoulders. Plus, I haven't had a lot of Migraines. I've had only 4 Migraines in the last three weeks.

It just seems like I've traded the migraine pain for this liver pain. Head Banging

Well, I'm going to try to make it through another day here at work. I was out all of last week. I've been thinking about all of you. Love you guys. Take care.

Morning everyone-
It's finally almost Friday! YIPEE!

I actually made it through yesterday with no albuteral neb treatment. I had to hit the rescue inhaler twice, but it took care of it.

I feel better today and am in hopes things go well today. The new inhaler gives me head pain for about an hour, but it resolves on itself. As long as it doesn't fire off a migmon, I'm OK with that. At least it's working.

It sounds like a lot of us and our families are sick. Group Hug Group Hug all the way around!

Gotta run-I'm at work and busy as crud-
Hope everyone is better!

Hi all.

Yeah, it's been a while. I keep meaning to get back into the habit of checking in, but I've been really busy at work lately. And my internet has been uncooperative.

Nothing much is new here. My head is as usual 2-3 migraines a week. My sciatic pain seems to have cleared up Fingers Crossed though I still have a lot of pain in my lubmar spine and I'm positive the disc is still herniated. I just ordered a memory foam mattress, so hopefully that will help my back woes.

Work has been bananas. I'm trying to do a million things at once, and its been really stressful. I just keep getting extra work and crazy deadlines.

So, same old story. I have missed all of you, especially those not on Face book with me.

I'm headed out to LI tomorrow to see the family, which will be nice but stressful. I'm getting a (badly needed) hair cut, and hopefully (an even more badly needed) massage.

Laura: Don't "grin and bear it" too much. You know you'll only end up sicker. Good luck with all the stuff you have to do today!

Heather: You had your gallbladder out recently right? Have you had an abdominal MRI? When I had mine removed, there was a stone left in the common bile duct, which caused occasional pain but elevated my liver enzymes. I wonder if it's the same with you. I'm glad at least your head is behaving. One pain at a time is always preferable to two!

Well, I hope to be back tomorrow! In the meantime, be AWAP.

Another day, another dollar.

My head is really starting to amp up. I didn't think it was a Migraine....started kinda TTH like so that is what I thought it was. I already took Vicoprofen so now I would like to just stick with that.

Lynn - I thought for a second that you had lost it! LOL I was quickly reading your post and all my brain registered was "it's finally Friday" haha. I thought either Lynns lost it or I'm a day behind. Then I read it again. I wish it was Friday 5pm already!

Heather - good to see you! Big Grin I'm sorry to hear about your blood work and liver stuff. Do you think we can trade ourselves in for new and improved models? You know, ones with no Migraines, or other ailments? I should work on that! Wink

Laura - just reading about your day exausted me! LOL Hope you make it through and get to chill!

Kel - sorry your back is still aggrivating you! I have been having major lower back issues since my LP - I already had herniated discs there, now it just aches all around the injection site. It's not enflamed or anything, I think it's still just healing (at least I hope) I'm going to tell my dr. next visit if it's no better.

Well, I'm going to take a walk outside and try and chill to get rid of this head pain. I think someone keeps turning up the brightness of my monitor which aggrivates me.

Kat, yes, I had my gallbladder out almost a year ago. The doctors thought it might be a leftover gallstone or kidney stones. But they didn't see any when they did the CT scan.

Eileen, I've often asked if I could trade in my body for a newer, better one. Some days I just want to scream-IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!! But no one ever said that life was fair.

Hi buddies -

I met with the other families from the supper co-op this morning - I think this is going to be fun and a really great deal. Imagine 2 nights a week a hot dinner delivered at 6 - 6:30, for free! Cooking 3x as much one night is a small price to pay. I am psyched!

I'm feeling quite a bit better though not great if I'm up on my feet for long. never did call the doctor yesterday because I just so needed the rest, and was starting to feel a little better. I'm debating whether I should go today. These sinus infections don't usually go away without drugs but I am feeling so much better! I'm gonna play it by ear. Maybe I could just recover from a cold like normal people? A girl can dream!

Got our insurance for next year figured out. It's actually going to be slightly cheaper than this year and cover a bit more. That's a huge relief, though I'm not thrilled to have to switch companies again. but if the company I'm with keeps raising premiums 50 - 60%, I don't have much choice! Second year in a row with an outrageous premium increase.

Heather I'm so sorry to hear about all the pain you've been in! what a mess. I hope they find out what's going on & help you!

Eileen I hope your head gets better today.

Laura your day sounds like a real marathon. good luck. glad you didn't have to unload the truck!

Lynn glad you had a less awful day with the asthma. Hope it keeps getting better.

Kel sorry to hear things are so nuts. glad you get to go see the family.

Didn't get a chance to check in yesterday, but I did read up. Yesterday wasn't a good day. Did my best to control an almost imminent panic attack at work... Ended up hopping in the car to head to job #2 and cried most of the way there. I just can't take life anymore. Trying to psych myself up to talk to my boss today, especially because my mom isn't here and I don't have to worry about having to talk to her about any of my issues. I tried to talk to her yesterday and I just got a lecture about how if I leave this job I'm throwing my career and future away and blah, blah, blah. Even my sister says I need a 'real job'. And everyone wonders why I just end up suffering through everything instead of actually doing something about it. I don't understand what's so bad about wanting to continue to waitress and bartend right now. The money's good and it's not like it's a permanent career choice. I just want time to figure out what I really want to do and at least get my migraines a little under control. And I can't do that working 65-80 hours a week and hating what I'm doing. Head Banging
Have a doctor's appointment with the new migraine specialist I've only seen once next week. She's going to lecture me again because nothing about my life has changed in the last 6 weeks since I saw her last. If anything I've added more stress with DBF's parents being in town.

Laura - hope you get everything done that you need to today. And I hope DS and DH feel better.

Heather - so sorry to hear about your liver problems. I really hope the doctors can figure out what is causing you so much pain! Fingers Crossed

Lynn - glad yesterday was better than the day before. Hope the same can be said for today.

Kelly - nice to see you! Enjoy LI Smiler

Eileen - I read your vent. Boy do I understand. Glad they're finished with the roof at your work. Hopefully your head doesn't get much worse today.

Well, I guess I should have lunch. I think I'll read my book a little too. Hopefully that will help me relax a bit... Could use a nap... wouldn't mind hitting the car for a little bit to catch one.

It's your life. It's your life! It's your life! It's YOUR life!

Lots of people make career changes and come back to things later or do entirely different things. Do they make as much money as the people who work straight through in the same profession? Sometimes no, sometimes yes. Do they advance in their careers and get as much prestige as if they stayed in the same profession? Sometimes no, sometimes yes. But if you do something that makes you miserable, you're not going to make all those advances anyway.

And even more important, if you don't get your Migraines at least a little under control, as you said, it will certainly impact your career as well as your health. It would be nice if your family understood but if they don't - It's your life! You don't need to be miserable! Nowhere is it decreed that Meli must be miserable. Your forum family understands and we support you 100% in doing what you need to do to have a decent life!

Hi everyone,
Just checking in quickly. I am having some wierd side effects on the neurontin and I was hoping they would go away, but I finally called my Dr. this morning and am waiting for a call back. I posted about this in the medications folder. I guess I'm still looking for the right preventive.

Work has not been as busy lately for me, but my DH has not been well and is taking some time off work under his Dr's orders. This has been stressing me out since I just have to hope that he gets better and can go back to work soon. I also found out my best friend is pregnant and I have mixed feelings about that. She is the only friend I have who is married with no kids. Now it seems like everyone has kids except us and I can't because of my health problems. I thought I had made peace with this until I found out about her pregnancy. She is 42, though, and is having lots of complications and her baby only has an 85% survival rate. I wouldn't want to go through that.

Sorry, I can't respond to everyone since I need to get back to work. I hope everyone that is hurting gets better.

Group Hug

Still sick - my back and head hurt so bad from coughing. But I don't have a fever today.

I take tessalon pearles for cough and that gives me insomnia and I'm taking soma for my muscles aching and drinking coffee to counter act the sedative effect, thus, I'm waking up at 5 am.

Dh drove Nikoli to school again, so I went back to bed at 8 and got another couple of hours sleep. The kids are off school tomorrow.

Nikoli had a loose tooth that broke at the gum line. Dentist for him tomorrow.

Fast replies:

Laura Thumbs Down busy day

Heather Thumbs Down on liver troubles (I've been wondering where you were)

Lynn Thumbs Up on feeling better

Kelly Fingers Crossed on the memory foam mattress

Eileen Thumbs Down on your head pain

Megs Thumbs Up on the food coop

Meli Good Luck on talking to your boss

Hey guys,

Just stopping in. I really hope you all are having a good week Flower. I would love to catch up with you all, but need to get back to bed. I will be spending a lot of time in bed here for a while. I guess my appointment with my specialist went as well as it could at this point, but any way that info is in my support posting.

I will be off work until the first week of Nov, so I will get some much needed rest. I look forward to catching back up with you all while I have this free time Thumbs Up

I just had to pop in and say hello, but I gotta get going. Just remembered i need to get a med from the pharmacy so I will check back in later. Group Hug and Heart to you all!

Hi guys,

Just have a second--My entire family is now terribly sick with the flu. DH and I have confirmed cases and we're not even bothering to have the kids tested. We've all definitely got it. We're not sleeping through the night--all of the coughing, breathing treatments, etc. are keeping us all up. DS9 is wheezing with asthma, and DS6 is sleeping off and on all day long. My fever and pneumonia continue. Even my eyelids hurt! It's really crummy.

Deb, I know what you mean about your head and body hurting from coughing. I have the good prescription cough medicine--but my back, belly and head are still SOO sore from all of the hacking.

I'll check back in with you when I return to the land of the living...

Alaura - you reminded me of something I heard on the radio. It was a commercial for mattresses and it said "you spend 4 months a year in bed" and my thought was that is the average person! What about those with a chonic disease or illness! It's probably more like 6 months a year! Roll Eyes

Hope you are doing well girlie! Group Hug I'm glad you have a break so you can get some rest!
