Happy Cinco De Mayo!
Paulie was supposed to go to a Cinco De Mayo party today, we even bought supplies for his Spanish classroom party but as it turns out, he has a doctor's appointment that conflicts with it. Oh well, I'll have to cook a Mexican meal instead. Today is another busy day, I love busy days! Paulie should be getting his cast removed today. I know they'll remove it, x-ray it and if it's healed I guess he is either a free kid or maybe they'll put him in something smaller? We'll see. After that, I'm back in the dining room. I finished sanding last night. For such a small room it made a big mess. My goal is at least one coat of primer, maybe two depending on how my noggin does with the fumes. Yep, windows will be opened and A/C will be on. Deb-I blocked off the other rooms with sheets and it still made a mess! Oh, we are going to see Iron Man next weekend for the first showing to save some cash. It's only $5 per person, even cheaper than a military discount. I agree, I can't wait to see how Downey does in it!! Alright, I'm off to forum for a few minutes then to run around. I hope everyone is doing well today!! Good Morning All!
I have been MIA because I have been so busy! I managed to fend off the beastie Thurs-Sat, and only had a tiny one on Sunday. I had a relaxing weekend just running errands and doing stuff around the house. I FINALLY switched from Fall/Winter to Spring/Summer in my closet. It was like Christmas! I didn't even remember half the stuff I had in there! I am feeling pretty good today, and looking forward to the weekend. I am going to try to get my mom to meet me in NYC on Saturday so I can take her to lunch and to the Met for Mother's day. Laura: Good luck with the dining room Well, I hope everyone has a good, pain free day!!! |

Hi everybody!
I can't believe the weekend is over already! DH had a great show on Sat. The crowd loved him! It was great! We went to dinner with his friends before the show too so that was fun. Yesterday was just running around, that was pretty much it. I'm so tired today! But the good news is, the nice weather has returned to NJ! Yippee!!! It is supposed to be 75 for most of the week! Maybe I can convince DH to help me rake one of these days! Hope you all are having a great day! Good Morning,
Well no migraine today, really only minor ones on Saturday and Sunday. Based on dealing with ex SIL and all the dust and smells in their house, I'm lucky it wasn't more. I didn't take anything. I came home both days to peace and quite, a good meal and they disapated. I don't know if that's from the prevenative or maybe they were really only tension HA's. But I'll take it. Back to work today. I'll go into the office. I think I have Nala's medications so that I'm ok leaving her. I'll still worry, but I can't work from home forever. DBF RAN over here as soon has his daughter got home yesterday. As much as he enjoyed having the time with his grandchildren and they were good, he said he'd had enough of babies and kids. It was cute. At least I don't have to worry about him leaving me for a younger woman who wants children!! Ok, it's time to get ready for work. Take care everyone. Cindy |

Good morning, everyone.
Well, my streak of being migraine-free was broken on Friday. I woke up with a mean one. Then I had another on Saturday afternoon. the good news is the Maxalt seemed to work. This going to be a busy week at work. I have meetings today and tomorrow. Plus, we are getting ready for a band trip to Houston/Galveston at the end of the week. It should be fun. I'm hoping to be migraine-free. Hope everyone has a good day. |

Good Morning All!
Beautiful blue skies this morning. Blue skies do so much for me. I just feel better...even with these nasty migraines. I'm trying to figure out what my body is doing. I've been having migraines (with breaks) the last 7 days. I've been expecting my period so I kept thinking they were pre-menstrual (which would be a change from my normal pattern of getting them only during my period). But, I still haven't gotten my period and it is 7 days later than I woulda thought. So far today, my head is on the fence. I feel almost like it is trying to decide what to do. I'm hoping it gives me a bit of a break. My dog, Knightley is doing much better after having his teeth extracted. He had a rough couple days afterwards. Oh, and I watched the Derby too. How sad it was. My parents were actually there. They go every year. It is a "work" thing for my dad. Mom doesn't like going at all, but makes the best of it with people watching. Laura- I hope that everything has healed well for Paulie. Good luck with the painting. I often wear a mask when I paint. Kat-I always forget about the fun spring/summer clothes I have too! I'm with you, it is like Christmas! Eileen- Yay for good weather! Cindy- Glad for you that you've gotten Nala's meds so you feel you can leave her. Valerie-That is so fun you enjoy the jewelry so much! Enjoy! Heather- Yay for the Maxalt working! Have a great day everyone. Hi guys -
almost noon here. I had an early appointment and then had to take Ms. Rach to school who was feeling crummy and slept late, then Danny needed me to run an emergency errand. Feels like my day hasn't quite started yet. Rach not managing to get up happens a lot these days. I think she runs herself into the ground. She's in a play this week so the schedule will let up a bit. Junior year is killer anyway, and she works two evenings a week, has had rehearsals almost every day for 2 weeks, is in 2 AP and 2 Honors classes, has the AP exams next week, more SAT's in early June... We think at 17 1/2 she needs to learn to take care of herself and if she learns by getting sick, or having her grades slip, so be it. I can't stand over her and yell. Whoo - didn't expect to go into that rant - put a keyboard in front of me and you never know what might happen. Anyway my head's a tiny bit funky - I slept really badly. Trying to take it slow, prep for my week, spend some time outside for exercise & a break (I'll probably weed some more). Eileen is right it's spectacular here - 70's and dry and breezy. My favorite weather in the whole world. Deb - from yesterday - I'm going to re-open that ADHD thread in the off-topic folder - some resources to share with you. I'll get to it later in the day. I don't know if it's right or wrong about the toys but I just keep trying to remember 1) tackle one issue at a time with him, and 2) it's a developmental delay - he's not doing it to be bad. It sure is challenging, though! Kelly I hope your head gives you a break. I'm glad Knightley is doing better. I meant to ask you - is he named after the Jane Austen character? Heather good luck with the band trip. Are you in the band, or leading it, or have a kid in it? Valerie do you have a World Trade Center in TX, too? Pickign up jewelry sounds like fun. Cindy good luck getting back to the office. You had a busy weekend! Try to take it easy on yourself. Hey Eileen glad DH had a good show. Maybe we can come hear him sometime! Hey kat - glad you had closet fun! good seeing you! Laura - Happy Cinco de Mayo to you too! Thanks for the reminder - I'll have to do some Mexican tonight too! Good luck with your painting. Okay, lunchtime, then off to get some work done! - megs |

Yep! Mr. Knightley from Emma. I love Jane Austen and I loved that character. Something funny. I had my Mr. K for a couple years before I met DH. When we started dating, I looked to see what Mr. Knightley's first name was in Emma . And oddly enough, my DH and the character share the same first name: George! It was a silly thing, but a happy coincidence and fun. Morning all. Just a quick hello from work. I had an early-morning appointment with one of the RNs at my PCPs office to talk to her about my suddenly worse constipation last week. I haven't met her before, but she was really nice! She agreed to let me stop the nortriptyline, and also prescribed some Miralax for me in the meantime. I can give her a call if that doesn't do the trick. She gave me lots of sympathy - I guess she knows the first neuro I saw here, and was really surprised he wasn't able to help me out with finding something for my migraines. I'm going to try staying on the 50 mg of Topa for now, since I see my new specialist in just over 2 weeks.
I'm also seeing my eye doc at lunch today - he has some new lenses for me to try for my photophobia/fluorescent lighting issues. Interesting thing, when I was at my PCP's, they told me I was running a slight fever and asked if I've been sick. I sort of laughed and said it was probably migraine-related - what isn't these days?? I'm hoping my head holds out ok with the fluorescent lighting at both doctors' offices today. My pain wasn't too bad this weekend - didn't get above a 6, which is very good for me these days - and I'd love to keep it that way. I should get back to work - hope everyone has a good Monday! -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ Why do I capitalize Migraine? Kelly, obviously it was meant to be! I am a huge Austen fan too. When Danny & I started dating he had a cat named Emma! Just more "meant to be." I'm rereading Sense & Sensibility right now with my book group. |

Good afternoon. Dr. Pepper this time. I seem to need the caffeine lately.
Nothing exciting. Like I said yesterday, we had a good time with our friends but I'm feeling the funky chairs today. Legs and back. So it's my "take it easy" day. Laundry got done over the weekend, dh cooked our dinner "snacks" and cleaned up last night and I'm just making a big pot of lentils, brown rice and ham shanks for dinner. Megs, looking forward to what you have to say on ADHD and my latest incident. There are so many things I never dreamed I'd be doing - I didn't dream I'd go to Russia to adopt my miracle child and I didn't dream I'd be dealing with ADHD with same said child. How can you love them to death and want to shake some sense into them at the same time? We did leave Nikoli with a few toys and a couple of stuffed animals - he's not completely bereft of toys. Hello, forum buddies!
I am amazed and delighted -- two days no mig!!!! Whaa-hoo! And so far so good today. My goodness, isn't this East Coast weather great?! 70's and sunny. Those are the days I live for! Our housekeeper Julia is here today. She is such an angel. I don't know what I'd do without her. DH is at work. He took long naps both Sat and Sun, so maybe he's caught up now. Although he was out at a Steve Winwood concert last night. The man never stops. He even puts the Energizer bunny to shame! Well, I updated my meds list and printed out a copy in alphabetical order so I can do the inventory. I still haven't done the mig diary. And I'm still almost a week behind on newspapers. But with my head behaving for two days, I'm a little more productive so maybe I'll get caught up soon. We ordered in chicken fajitas last night. DH was too disgusted with his Rangers losing to cook. Can't think of much else. Hope everyone enjoys their day. LauraSue. (I'm 55, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.) |

Greetings to all! It's after 1pm here. Weighing in took awhile. I got measured, and I'm down on all the measurements, even 2" in my rear end. My % of body fat is way down, too. Not exactly in the healthy range, but much closer. Then went to Kroger. We're having pot roast tonight -- that's what was on special.
Had a pretty good weekend. Walked 6 days last week. Gardened yesterday, and I figure that counts, too. My head behaved. I'm behind on my headache chart, so I've got to fix that today. Dentist tomorrow. That's usually OK. I've GOT to get them to make another night guard. All the bounce is gone from this one. Megs -- My DS is 21 and finishing his first year away at college. He spent 3 years at community college (long story), living at home, and I got used to ignoring when he did things like play computer games. I started trying to let go, on school projects and stuff, when he was in middle school. Good for you for making your DD take responsibility! MJ -- My GI doc told me about Miralax at my colonoscopy about 10 days ago. It took several days to work, but things are very nice now. It really is tasteless and non-gritty. I'm also giving it to the dog, who is chronically constipated. Poor little guy - he started shaking a little this morning. That means he's in a lot of pain. I gave him a whole Tramadol this morning instead of just a half. He seems to be feeling better, and not loopy. I'm going to wander around the forum for awhile, then go eat some lunch (breakfast was very late because of weigh-in, and I had my mid-morning snack). Have a good day! Gretchen in Mississippi |

Hi All--
Finally got home from work to see you guys have been busy today. Thank goodness I only have to work 1 Monday in 3. I was short 1 tech today--thought I was going to die. I did disappear behind totes at least a couple of times! Deb--It sounds like my 34 year old son had exactly the same problems that your son is exhibiting. We tried everything, taking toys away, psychologic counseling (multiple times), etc. The weirdest part was that he would DO the homework etc., but not turn it in. In high school he flunked 1 class every term, never the same one, though, so he wouldn't have to take it in summer school (after he had to retake Health). He would make all A's on his tests, etc., but would have so many zeros for not turned in work that he never had a good GPA. (Jeremy has a very high IQ--would have been a gifted student if we could have got him to slightly apply himself). He was finally diagnosed with MADD in the middle of his junior year, but wouldn't take the meds for it. After a few years of us worrying about him ending up under a bridge, he turned out really well. He is now a certified glazer (installs and replaces windows). I am so thrilled to hear that there is at least some public outcry on the news about the tragedies at the Kentucky Derby and other thoroughbred races!! Those of us who have been so frustrated at watching these wonderful horses being bred for injury and death are feeling hopeful that maybe anger from nonhorsy people will help get something done at the breeders' level. I was irritated to hear PETA wants the jockey to be arrested. He had nothing to do with the disaster. Jockeys love the horses they ride, and he could have been killed too! On a more happy note, we found out from the vet this morning that our mare, Nutmegan (Maggie the Magnificent) is pregnant! Hopefully all will go well and we'll have a new foal next March. Sorry, you can tell about all I think about is horses and headaches, huh? Hope everybody had a decent day and a better evening. Tracie |
