Happy Tuesday!!

Hooray! I woke up almost pain free today after yesterday's migraine. I can't believe how much improvement I have made since my Dallas trip. The migraine only lasted 24 hours and wasn't as intense again.

The kids were home yesterday and they cleaned the house from top to bottom to say thank you for the fun filled weekend we had. They even got behind the couches to vacuum and do the baseboards. What a great way for them to appreciate the weekend. (Even though I had so much fun with them too).

Today I have a dentist appointment. I am getting a crown....yikes! Hair Raising But, I have cancelled the appointment four times because I had a migraine so, I figured I better get in there before they auction off the crown LOL.

I hope all you guys are having a great morning!

Hi Laura (and everyone else out there!),

How nice that your kids did the cleaning! I'm working hard to get my kids to understand that they have to make their beds and clean up their rooms after playing. They're still young (7 and 5), but they need to take care of their own messes! We always say my younger son is like a walking disaster area. He likes to move from one spot to another, messing up everything in his path! But if I remind him, he's also our best cleaner! Big Grin

I'll be thinking of you as you visit the dentist...That's my least favorite place of all! Frowner My close friend is our dentist. Even though I trust him, I still would rather have 1000 nerve block injections than one dental appointment!! UGH!!

It's a rainy, dreary day here. None of us wanted to wake up this morning...it was still as dark as night in our rooms as the alarms rang!

My youngest son is off of school today, so I'm going to let him choose our afternoon activities. Knowing him, we'll probably end up at the McDonald's with the indoor play area or at the mall (another indoor play area!).

Have a happy Tuesday, everyone! Smiler

Hi all!

It's a sleepy day today for me. Zzzz'z I wish I could go back to bed.

I think it's the Amitriptyline!!! I'm going to have to take it a little earlier then right before bed. But the good news is 20 mins after taking it, I'm out! And - no wierd numbness last night so it was either a very mild side effect that has passed, or the way I was sleeping....who knows, as long as it's not happening!

Back at work today. Managed to stay migraine free through the funeral yesterday, which I was amazed! I took Skelaxin earlier in the day and it headed off the 1-2 I had - and that was it! I feel that 1-2 coming back now - but I'm going to see how the day goes. With my new DX of transformed migraines, I don't want to jump the gun!

Hope everyone is having a good day! It's still chilly here in NJ - I can't wait for spring!!!! Even though winter didn't really start here for us until, well 2 weeks ago - I wish it would end! I hate the cold!

Laura -- Great news on the migraine progress! And good luck at the dentist! My dad hates the numbing for the drill so much that he'd almost rather have the pain from the drill. I like ours, and his hygienists are very gentle. I've got 5 crowns in the front, so I know the pain it is.

Jenny -- 100% chance of rain today, probably starting about noon. They're predicting doom and gloom, of course. I looked at the radar on WeatherUnderground, and I'm not sure we'll even get any rain at all. Looks like it'll pass west of us. I hope yours clears up. Dontcha love dreary mornings?

Woke up with a 1 that might calm down to a zero after I walk. Yesterday, my 5 responded to my meds and eventually got to a 0. I even went to the grocery store.

Just got back from taking the dog to the vet for a followup on his bladder infection. I hope they can give him something for his itching.

The Diet Center counselor yesterday had some ideas to deal with my new craving for sweets, caused by the Lyrica. My fridge is now full of sugar-free Jello and light yogurt.

I hope today is great for everybody!

HI gang -

Eileen, I'm with you - hate the cold too - but I don't mind when there's snow, which we have had none to speak of! Glad you slept well Fingers Crossed that your side-effects are over.

Jenny your youngest sounds like mine - our biggest mess maker and best cleaner when he takes it in his head to do that - every once in awhile he'll go nuts and polish the silver or wash windows - then I get to clean up the cleaning supplies he leaves all around. Wink

Laura so glad you're doing so well! And yay for your kids, cleaning up! Thumbs Up Take it easy after that dental appointment - don't know about you but I know dental work or any other minor surgery or injury hits me hard - that sensitive migraineur's nervous system, I guess.

I had a low-grade headache much of the day yesterday. Took my "pain duller" (choline salt of aspirin - a non-NSAID aspirin I'm allowed with my med allergies - pretty useless for severe pain) and it actually seemed to make a difference for once! I even had a fair amount of energy in the evening which is always a red-letter day for me.

Then we paid bills and ouch! Hair Raising Things are very tight - we both slept badly and woke up with anxiety. Better now, but I'm so prone to TTH right now, and often tipping over into migraine from it. I know I need to stay calm and relax and it's hard to do with all the stress - vicious circle time! Got to work on my projects to get out of where we are and I can't afford to be disabled from working on them, but then I worry about that...

All in all, I'm not doing too bad - migraines only averaging once a week and most of them over in less than 24 hours - and I'm making great progress with business projects, so I've got to keep perspective, but it Is hard!

- Megs

Morning everyone! I woke up to a very windy and gloomy day. I heard on the radio this morning that the pass is closed in both directions because of heavy snow and avalanche danger. Glad I don't need to go to eastern WA any time soon!

I talked to my neuro's office yesterday, and with his ok I decreased my nortriptyline to 40 mg last night. The side effects at 50 were just too much for me to handle - constipation, increased appetite. They don't disappear at 40 but they're much more tolerable. Unfortunately I have a feeling the nortriptyline was actually starting to help my head - I've had 6 low pain days out of the last 8, and I haven't had a migraine over a 7 since 1/20. I don't feel like the trade-off with the side effects is worth it, though.

I slept pretty terribly last night. I was nauseous when I went to bed, so I took some promethazine, which normally knocks me out within a half hour of taking it. Not last night! I woke up probably 5-6 times before 4:30 am. I'm hoping it's a fluke and blaming it on the weather coming through today.

Laura, I'll be thinking of you at the dentist today. Hope it goes well without too much pain!

Jenny, I hope you enjoy your day with your youngest son!

Eileen, so glad to hear you made it through yesterday without the beast. Hope it stays that way!

Gretchen, hoping Fingers Crossed you can stay ahead of the cravings from the Lyrica. My nortriptyline started doing that to me and I just couldn't handle it - I'm not supposed to be eating any sugar, and I can't eat sugar substitutes. The craving for sweets was just killing me!

Megs, hang in there. I know it's easier said than done, but try to relax and not get stressed about the financial stuff. Just remember to breathe!

Hope everyone is having a good Tuesday. Heart

Moderately early/late.

It's January, it's 68 degrees (a new record) and we're under a TORNADO watch. Geez! At the end of the week we're going to have accumulating snow. It think January should have a season of it's own - sumter.

Laura, when you kids finish with your house, send them to mine.

Megs, money worries are the worst. We've had our fair share.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Hi everyone,

I a little late this morning, I was fighting the side effects of upping my topamax last night, now I am fighting vertigo. I was on a pretty good run of 5 days. Hopefully, I can kick this out. I am not sure what I am going to do about the topamax. I don't know if I can handle the side effects, I going to give it one more week to see if the subside. I was thinking about asking my doc about frova, but my hormones are all over the place I don't think it would work. I going to call my doc next week. On a good note, my hubby and I are looking into the Keeler Headache Clinic in Ojai. It is about 4-5 hours from us, but it is one of the nearest and it looks really good (it's on the forum). My doctor recommended too. (I'm going to post in folder)

Laura-that's so great your children clean the house, Zach still loves to clean, but the twins, now there room's are just plain scary Hair Raising Good luck at the denist. I feel your pain...Not my favorite place to be.

Jenny-Have fun with your son today!!!

Eileen-That is great that numbness has passed. That is one of the problems I am having with the topa. Even potasium isn't helping. I hope you the beastie stay at bay today.

Gretchen- I glad the diet center gave you idea's for sweets. Sweets are always a tuffy for me to stay away from.

Megs-I hear you on the financial stuff. Business is so slow for us right now. I look at our bills and sometimes feel like I am ocean and I forgot my snockel ha ha. I am sending you relaxing, positive, non-stressful thoughts (where's there's meditation smiley) Blinking

MJ-I am so sorry you did not sleep well last night. Here's to hoping it was just a fluke too. Good thing you don't have to travel today. Sounds like nasty weather. Stay warm.

Deb-tornado warning Hair Raising take care of yourself and stay safe.

Everyone who comes on later Have a Super-Duper Tuesday!!

Maybe this in another thread somewhere, but how long have you been on topa for now?

What dose are you at now? I remember the vertigo feeling when I up it too! Now I just have Zzzz'z because of the Amitriptyline and tingles from the topamax.

It never hurts to ask about Frova - heck Jamie and I swear by it!!! Smiler

Hi Eileen,

I been on 50mg for 4 months, but upped it to 75 last week. I get vertigo with my migraines, I never thought it could be from the topa Uggg. I thought I was getting a migraine this morning but nothing so far. How long did the vertigo last? I think I am going to ask about Frova. But, my menstration isn't normal anymore and I get migraine when I ovulate. But, it doesn't hurt to ask. Thanks Blinking

And Are you still under tornado watch?

Ok, I'm late getting in here.

My day has been okay. I'm feeling a little bit of a beast trying to bite currently, and I'm wishing it away. I'd like to have had a 3 day break from all pain. I don't think it's going to happen though.

I'm currently facing an uphill battle at work- they're trying to switch all bulbs on the campus from incandescent to CFLs. Great... Just when I get my lighting correct... And they're going to make us purchase our own CFLs for our own lights- it's not like they're even gonna provide the things for free.

Meh. So, that's my day.

I didn't know we were under a tornado watch!!! I didn't see any today! Wink

When I upped the topamax, the dizzy/spins lasted a week or so, then things kinda calmed down. Hope the same is for you! I too was on 50mgs for almost a year and just recently (oct) went to 75mgs.

Woke up pain-free, and went to our work location for the day at 7 A.M. Had to excuse myself from my task at 7:30 A.M. to go to the car for my medication. This was the 7th migraine since the 20th. This is getting really tiresome. I guess it was a combination of weather and hormones.

I hope everyone who is having head pain--including me--feels better soon. Take care, all.

I think mid-west somewhere is under tornado watch, not us in NJ...

Jamie good luck with the cfl fight - can you get them to understand it's a trigger?

Nut I'm sorry you're migraining so much! Feel better.

Had another lo-grade headache day - got some work done but then had tech difficulties with the web stuff I'm working on - very frustrated and not in a peaceful mood! Got to that "my head's gonna 'splode" point and went and took a short nap - better after that. got a lot of straightening done in the house - that feels good. Elderly relatives coming to stay this weekend and I sure do want things to look good.

Wishing everyone a peaceful night Angel - good zzz's Zzzz'z .
