Hi all,

I guess it's my turn to start one of these? Smiler I hope everyone has been doing well.

The week has not ended so great here. My mother in law had her second massive heart attack Thursday night so we've been in and out of the ICU. There's lots of info to go around but not many answers yet. The good news is that she's lucid and has her humor, but we don't know the extent of the damage yet, or if she has any brain damage. Her heart stopped on the way into the ER, but prior to that her husband knew the signs and was able to dial 911 before that happened, so she was in the hospital when it happened. What we do know is that a potassium deficiency led to the problem, causing an irregular heartbeat. That along with an artery blockage and possible pneumonia just proved too much for her.

Anyway, it's horrible news but I wanted to share. I just needed to say something to someone other than family, you know? I haven't even alerted close family friends yet...We are all just tired of making calls.

I truly hope you all are doing well--I've had a few ripping migraines this weekend but it's really nothing compared to what my MIL is going through. We still have her so I am very thankful; I love my in laws so a migraine is not going to keep me away from the hospital! My husband is doing better now that she's talking to us...But it was rocky for the first 24 hours.

Hopefully I will have time to check over what everyone else has been up to this week! I haven't had a chance to check in for a few days.

Keep well everyone and I hope that the weekend is pain free!

Leeloo, I'm so sorry to hear about you MIL!!!!

I hope that the news you get is that it's not that bad. I guess the one good thing you mentioned is that she still has her humor! That is great!!!!

You are in my thoughts!!!! I will be thinking of you and your family! I wish you lived closer, I'd bring ya over a cake and some lasagna or something! Big Grin

My day is going to be oh so eventful.....yep! Going to the pound first to feed all the homeless kitties and doggies in Hoptcong, NJ - then off to BJ's to buy all that not so good for you stuff to stick in the deep fryer tomorrow for the super bowl (Go Giants!), then home to finish up, dun,dun,da.....our taxes! Yeah, I know we all love doing our taxes, don't we? To see all our hard earned money go right back to uncle sam. Well in this case, uncle sam is keeping half my return because we still owe him from last year! UGH! I hate taxes, at least this year I only have one return to do....oh the benefits of being married!! LOL

That's about it, so I'll be popping in, mid frustration, to rejoin the human race and not be thinking numbers throught the day.

Hope you all are doing something much more exciting then that!

Pain free Saturday to all!!!!! Group Hug

Leeloo, I'm sorry about your MIL. It's a good think your FIL knew the signs and called 911 right away. I hope she gets better soon.

I don't know if Kath is still pretty sick or not. I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and she was sleeping on the sofa. Hmmm. She doesn't do that unless she's feeling bad or can't sleep. I do know she was losing her voice last night. She's supposed to go to a dance tonight - she's determined to go, but I don't think she's going to make it.

Nikoli played in the snow almost all day yesterday.

Dh has to work this morning. I will be so glad when this company expands and they can hire more people.

Eileen good luck with the taxes and the frying! Good for you getting those taxes doen early Thumbs Up - I've got to get going on that!

Deb I'm sorry to hear Kath is still sick - sending you healing vibes! BTW, your ticker still puts your b-day on the 4th - is it the 3rd or 5th? I know it's soon! Big Grin

I'm lazing up here with my laptop and you guys - Danny's up cooking breakfast. I've been up before him on weekends for many months now. this morning I woke him up cause his aunt and uncle are coming and we have to clean - they'll be here by 2. Big house cleaning happened Thurs, just some tidying up to do. so I'm feeling a little guilty... but I'll get over it! Wink

Head iffy this morning. Not bad, just a little pressure around the temples. I don't want a mig with 3 days of company coming... but when do I ever want one? Fingers Crossed

Have a great day everyone!

WOW! I'm here before noon!

Didn't get to check in with the Forum yesterday. My housekeeper showed up yesterday morning with the news that her tax guy (at H&R Block or someplace) said that her W-2 was wrong. I looked at it, and it was. I couldn't figure out where I got the numbers I had put on it. So I spent the morning re-calculating her earnings. We pay her share of Social Security and Medicare tax, and that has to be added to the total. It's a real pain. Band thing is, I've already sent it to the government. But I can go online and fix it. What a pain. We've got to be legal about paying her taxes, though. I think that next year, I'll get our CPA to do the figuring.

We've had a CPA do our taxes since the 1986 Tax Simplification Act made our taxes too complicated for my CPA/Lawyer husband to do. I'll spend 3 weeks getting all our receipts, etc., organized for our acct. The medical expenses will take 2 or 3 days. UGH!

My big deal is to take a truckload of stuff to the Gateway Rescue Mission Thrift Store. I'm giving away all my 2X clothes and some of my big 1X's. I'm still in 16/18 pants, but my tops are now regular XL from the Misses department. Shopping in the Ladies Department, rather than the Plus sizes, has been a big goal of mine for 5 or 6 years. It's expensive, but much fun having to get a whole new wardrobe. I'm trying to be conservative about it. I only wore a 1X and a size 18 for 3 months. The 1X's I bought in September are too big, but I'm not going to buy new winter stuff until next year.

End of brag about weight loss!

Leeloo -- I'm glad your MIL is doing OK. Prayers for her recovery!

Eileen -- Good luck with your taxes! Mine are still a pile of paper.

Megan -- House guests disturb me so much that we took the hide-a-bed out of our "study" and got nice computer furniture. If we have overnight guests, we put them up at a nearby hotel. My BIL sometimes comes through on his sales trips, but I'm very comfortable with him seeing all the mess. He sleeps on the (very comfortable) couch and leaves early for breakfast meetings. Good luck with yours!

DS came home from college yesterday afternoon. We didn't know about it until about 5pm, when he called from about 25 minutes away. They've got Monday and Tuesday off for Mardi Gras. Hattiesburg is about an hour to 90 minutes away from New Orleans, and 90 minutes from Biloxi, and half the student body wouldn't be in class anyway. He's not going to stay the entire long weekend. He was out with his girlfriend last night. Came in at 4:50 this morning. I had been up taking the dog outside and was going back to bed right when he came in. I ignored him.

This novel is long enough. Only a twinge yesterday and so far today. Storms tomorrow and strong storms on Tuesday. Here's to pain-free to all!

Gretchen you made me laugh with your tax simplification complications. We did our own taxes up to and including the year we moved to NJ and had part year resident earnings in NY, part year non-resident earnings in NJ, part year resident earnings in NJ, and part-year non-resident earnings in NY! That was a nightmare - the next year we went to an accountant and he said "you guys are incredible - you did this tax return yourselves last year and Stayed Married!!???" Now just gathering the stuff for the accountant is enough to raise my blood pressure!

I get you with the company thing - but we're okay, not too messy except the kids' rooms which I'm not worrying about. I figure I'll clean them up when they leave home! I like having the guest bed mostly because if D or I are being restless, or he's snoring, or whatever, there's another bed to sleep on!

Laura feel better!

I don't think tickerfactory can count - it's the 5th but you'd think it was the 4th!

Morning everyone! (It's still morning here for another 20 minutes. Wink )

DBF and I slept in till 10:15, which is not exactly good sleep hygiene, but I just couldn't get up earlier. Oh well. My head isn't too bad so I may be ok. We woke up to some sun, which was unexpected. It's overcast now but I'm hopeful for good weather. No major plans for this weekend. Luckily my mom doesn't expect constant action while she's here - she understands the migraines all too well. We're hoping to go out to brunch with her tomorrow on Bainbridge Island.

Leeloo, so sorry to hear about your MIL. My thoughts are with you and your family. Group Hug

Eileen, sounds like you've got a busy day ahead of you. I don't even want to think about taxes yet. I still do my own but I'm dreading it this year. Luckily WA has no state income tax so I just have to file federal.

Deb, I'm hoping Kath starts feeling better soon!

Megs, hope you enjoy your weekend with DH's family and the beast leaves you alone.

Laura, I'm hoping you can head off the beastie before he gets you too badly.

Gretchen, I've got a load of clothes in my closet to donate. Most of them are just sweaters and such I don't wear any more (left over from college). It's so great that you've lost so much weight! Smiler

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend! Heart

afternoon Yall!

Leeloo, Im ss to hear about your MIL sending big Group Hug to you and your DH and your whole family! Hope she gets well soon! I too am very close with my inlaws, and its hard when their health is not good.(FIL has parkinsons, rapidly declining)

My DH does our taxes online with H&R Block himself. Ours are already done, and our refund just got electronically deposited yesterday Big Grin So we are going MAJOR food shopping and stocking up my near empty pantries and freezers this weekend!!

My youngest son and I are trying an MSG free diet starting this weekend too. Hopeing it will help with both our heads, joint pain and fatigue, and maybe even his allergies, immune system, learning disabilities and asthma! We had a naturapath physician asses him, and she said she took a kid off gluten (and all MSG) totally reversed his dyslexia and asthma! So here we go wish us luck! Virtually eliminates a ton of "junk" foods we like to munch on Hair Raising

MJ, WOW yall got sun? we started out the AM with sleet, and now to all snow, so far we have about 1/2 inch. If it woulda froze instead of rained last night, we prolly would have about 2 or more inches with how hard its been snowing. Big Grin

Well have a great day yall! Group Hug

Hi, everybuddy!

We've got a nice, sunny day here. Mid-40's and the snow is melting more and more. Smiler

So far today I've had our city Battle of the Books competition to do. This year I scored, which was kind of an interesting experience with that migraine shadow bit going on. I managed, though, without goobering any scores. We always have two people score, anyway, so that we can catch anything that got goofed up. After, we grownups went to lunch.

I've also been over to my sister's this afternoon to let all the dogs out and play with them a bit, so I got me all kinds o' puppy love. There are three Yorkies and a Min Pin in my gaggle o' fuzzy buddies. My sister and BIL have been off on a cruise the last couple of weeks, and Buckwheat, the Min Pin, who is my special buddy, has been pretty upset by the whole deal. After he "claimed" my lap from all the other fuzzies, he told me all about things. Poor guy. I assured him that they'll get home tomorrow. He's such a character.

Leeloo, I'l be sure and keep your MIL and family in my thoughts.

Eileen, good luck with the number crunching. We have a CPA that's practically family. She does our taxes each year. I got all my stuff ready to go a couple of weeks ago. Now all I have to do is wait until our tax appointment, and then wait for my refund.

Deb, I hope Kath is feeling better in time for the dance. I'm rooting for her.

Megs, enjoy your company!

Laura, feel better in a jiffy, so you can cheer on your Giants with all kinds of gusto tomorrow.

Gretchen, you just go ahead and brag your heart out! You've definitely earned that!

MJ, it was so very kind of you to sleep in for me, since I had to get up early for Battle of the Books. You are so very kind and thoughtful. Wink

Woke up early this morning as usual--especially in the winter. Took a quick look at the forum, then headed off for my monthly volunteer work. While there, I started very mildly migraining. Left there and went to the YMCA for exercise. By this time, I finally believe I actually have a migraine, so I took Axert and just walked around the track a few times--even then, each footfall increased the pain.

Now I'm finally home. Soon it will be time to take evening meds and go to bed. Hooray for bed! Axert makes me so drowsy.

Thanks guys.

I did not get out to see my MIL today. I had a massive migraine and slept all day. The hospital she is at has an open visitation policy so I may stop in tonight after work, I don't know yet. She is just dumping potassium out of her system without retaining any of it so they are looking for the cause and giving her medications to stop the dumping...That's all I know right now.

I appreciate your thoughts and I will be sure to pass them on to her.

Droolie, funny about the Min Pin! I have a cat who will lay in my lap and grumble about her day too, it's kind of funny how they do that! I don't understand why many people think animals aren't capable of communication.

As far as taxes go, well, my DH does them so I have no clue! This year I think we are going to outsoruce them to HR Block, so they are right. DH has to do them at least 3-4 times to make sure his numbers all come out right and I think he's tired of it.

I'd respond to everyone but I am at work and so tired from the migraine plus Axert. I just want to go back to bed. Frowner Please stay well everyone and thank you again.

Our cat will sit at your feet and complain before he jumps in your lap and finally settles down. His biggest complaint is when he can see the bottom of his food bowl!
