I've missed everyone around here, but I've been just a wee bit busy! I had William Jan. 9 at 4:38 am. I have to say that I've finally found something more painful than a migraine: Laboring with Pitocin! I was fine laboring naturally until they decided I wasn't progressing enough and talked me into Pitocin (elixer of Satan). From that point on I was in ####. I was thrilled to go to the OR for my c-section, and really looked forward to general anesthesia. I would also have welcomed a gun or a noose at that point, though. My water broke at 3:30pm on Jan. 8 on it's own, I piddled around for a while and finally called the doctor (perfect timing, as he was about to start drinking to celebrate the big game that night. I caught him before his first sip, so he came in on his off-night to take care of me, the angel). I labored for 12 hours with no epidural, and never got beyond 1.5 cm. I'm now a huge fan of c-sections, and I apologize to patients before I hook up there Pitocin drips. I was migraine-free for 3 weeks following delivery, and it was lovely. I don't think I could have coped with migraines, though, as I was fully occupied with a little insomniac who didn't want to eat, ever. He's doing great, he's up to 14 lbs now and nursing like a champ. My migraines are back with lesser frequency but greater intensity. I had no complications from the c-section, and I amazed everyone, including myself, with how fast I was back to regular activities. My OB said he attributed it to my chronic pain--plain old surgical pain just couldn't keep me down!
