The remnants of Fay are coming through tomorrow. 100% chance of rain! I'm sure the barometer will be dropping. Wish me luck! Barometer changes are a trigger for me.

I just realized that Molly will have to walk me in the rain. We've done it before, but we might not get in our 30 minutes.

Melanie -- I hope Fay doesn't trigger you. And the same to all y'all in her path.

I think Fay is down to a depression by now, but we're still getting rain bands and gusty winds here in Louisiana. And wouldn't you just know it - we brought our son to college in Alabama on Friday. He said it was hard walking across campus to dinner last night. I guess I'm still a little testy about tropical storms/hurricanes.

khm -- You have every reason to be testy about tropical weather. Katrina did that to everybody down here.

Where in Alabama is your son going? I graduated from The University of Alabama. In 1979, and campus has changed so much that I get lost. I had a great time and got a good education.

So far, so good. I've got something brewing in my head, but it's moving slowly.

Fay = 3.5 days of bad weather for us. Fay + start of school = migraine attack for me. Frowner

No one else is allowed to repeat my story, y'all heare me?! I've copyrighted it.

So, all my Mississippi friends (and everyone else who may be affected by Fay), y'all simply may not have migraine attacks. Good Luck

Gretchen,

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your post. My son is going to Springhill College in Mobile. It's such a beautiful place.

We've been consumed with worry about Gustav and the school sent my son home today. We were thinking he would be safer in Alabama, but they wanted the kids who could go home to leave campus if they could.

I feel like my head is going to explode. Normally, I would evacuate to my mother's home in southwest Louisiana, but I think she may be in more trouble than we are. Since she's widowed and blind, we're thinking we need to get her over here where I live (outside of New Orleans). I just have to pray the storm doesn't make an unexpected turn back towards us.

I don't mean to whine, but the migraine, nausea and anxiety are almost overwhelming right now with all this uncertainty. My husband has actually made me turn off the TV for the rest of the evening.

Honestly, I'm counting the days until my daughter graduates from high school and then we're out of here. If we get as much damage as we did from Katrina, we're not even waiting that long. I can't go through that again. I just can't.

Karen,

No, you're certainly not whining. And if you were, you have EVERY reason to. Plus, this forum is like a family- if you have something to get out, we're here for you.

I really hope that Gustav turns out to be a big nothing and all that happens is that you had extra time with your son. Keep us updated, ok? We're concerned about y'all, and hope that your whole family is nice and hunkered down and safe by the time this storm comes your way!

Best,

Jamie

We're all worrying for everybody who may be in Gustav's path, which at the moment could be us too (although for only heavy winds and rains due to how much inland we are). All the stables in the area are putting how many horses we can take in an evacuation pinch on the network (we can take 3).

I'm dreading the headache issues for me, so I can really empathize with all of you guys.

I know I'll be called in to work extra if they evacuate either New Orleans or the Houston area. Last time was extremely wild, since Austin is a major evacuate-to point.

Hope things turn out well for you guys, with as little disaster as possible--a lot less than predicted.
