My mind is definitely in a whirlwind right now, I'm almost positive I've posted about my aunt here.
She died today. It's been a rough six months for her. She died of kidney failure. She kept getting congestive heart failure - it was the kidney disease doing that. The treatment was prednisone and I think that did her in as much as the kidney disease. She wasn't just my aunt - she was like another mother. Even though we lived 230 miles apart, it's like we grew up with her. Her only child is three years older than me and he is my kids' godfather. He's a bachelor and has lived with her since his father died when he was 18. We visited every summer once Kath was born - it was important to me that my cousin saw his godchildren and my aunt to feel like a grandparent. They also came up here about twice a year. We're heading down to Tennessee Wednesday and home Wednesday - Kath can't miss more than one day of school. Dh wanted to go down Tuesday night, but I know what I can handle and getting down there about 10 Tuesday night and risking a bad hotel bed is worse than getting up at 5 in the morning. I can sleep in the car and I really don't want to pack my pharmacy for one night. I'll be well stocked with meds in my purse. That's it. Prayers and good thoughts appreciated. Deb  |
