OK so it's our anniversary at the end of this week... we've been together for one whole year... lol... not very long I know... but it's rather special... and I would love to supprise Mike... (something that doesn't involve me leaping out of a box butt naked screaming "supprise!")

I'd love to sweep him off his feet for everything he's done for me over this last year (or last 2 years really)... and because he sweeps me off my feet everytime I see him... he's sooo full of supprises I just want to suprise him with something nice and romantic and all that sort of gushy stuff.... you catch my drift....

Any suggestions... comments etc? baring in mind I'm kind of broke ... so it has to be really budget D.I.Y. sort of stuff... very creative... he loves creative stuff and well I love doing/making creative stuff...

All suggestions no matter how outragious and weird are welcome.... let your imaginations go wild... inspire me!!!

Kia Ora (Thanks)

Make a nice dinner - home cooked - and get a really good bottle of wine (if it's not a trigger).

Maybe throw on some music and light some candles!

My first anniversary gift to DH was an inexpensive treasure box (from a craft store I think). I filled it with slips of paper on which I wrote some wonderful, fun memory we had shared. I tied each little piece of paper with a small string. I told him it was our box of treasures he could read whenever he needed a smile. Since then, we've created many more treasured memories.

An indoor picnic in front of a fireplace, complete with basket and blanket might be fun--less stress and very romantic.

I love all the ideas... unfortunately neither of us actually drink... as he was recently ill with glanduler fever and it interacts with the anti convulsants I'm on... I love to cook and he loves to eat... in fact I made him a nice dinner last night after his long day at work and made him some fudge as a thankyou for staying up all night looking after me when I was ill when he had to get up early to do his project for broadcasting college! (really important stuff too that determines whether or not he gets his degree)
I think we'll be going out for dinner on the night (he's working during the day)... at our favourite resturant called the hunny pot... mouth watering food that's really cheap! I love the idea of the treasure box... was thinking of doing something like that... but didn't know how to put the ideas in order if that makes sense...

I think we mgiht be going away for a night too... might watch the fire works display (our aniversary is on guy forks) on our place high on the hills where we were exactly last year... that looks out over the beach (it's less crowded and no drunk people whoot!)

Ok thought I would quickly pop in and let you all know what I've done teehee... I'm having a good day so I've done a load of baking lol and got Mike's prezzie sorted lol I sure hpoe he likes it... it's about as low budget as it gets... I thought I'd go with the treasure box idea but with a twist... instead of pieaces of paper it's like little things I found lying around that reminded me of funny things we did together or things that remind me of him.. or just stuff that he might like ...
so in the little box is...
-some post-it notes.... everytimes we stayed at each others house and one of us had to get up early for work or whatever we'd leave a post-it note... once I made him pote-it note people so he wouldn't get lonely when he had the flu... lol... last christmas when I was still living with my parents he covered my bedroom with post-it notes it was all very romantic lol...
-a little torch, the first time he came over I broke his torch (he works in broadcasting/television and needs it for electrical stuff) after I said I wouldn't... rather funny memory
- a muffin monster, we tried to bake a cake without a recipe it was a terrible disaster so we took it to my mum at work to share with her work mates.... they thought it was fudge...
-some marshmallows, he's getting a mushy round the middle... if he keeps eating marshmallows he'll look like one...
-a little teddy, I gave him a teddy for valentines, I tell him all the time that Teddy gets lonely when he has to go away for work so he should take him with him but him being a man and all doesn't so now Teddy has a friend...
-hundreds and thousands, a delicious way to show him how many hugs and kisses I want ot give him.... we always use corny metaphors for that sort of thing...
-and a little book... I'm a writer, I always write to him when he's away on a business trip and he reads it when he's comes home...

but yea... that along with some pyrotechnics a romantic dinner... a get away to God knows where... I think will be really awesome.. thanks for your help guys... oh and it turns out he's not working on our anniversary either...yay!!! extra special day!
