A good friend of mine from college suffers from severe chronic pelvic pain, and sent an email to me letting me know about a 20/20 special that will air this Friday at 10 pm on ABC. I'll copy her email here:

Hey everyone!
Most of you know that I've been sick for quite some time with a variety of delicate gynecological issues. Mostly I'm in severe abdominal/pelvic pain at least once a day and sometimes all day.

When I went to my vulvovaginal specialist (Dr. G) last week there was a camera crew there with my doctor and they were from 20/20. This Friday, August 7th, at 10pm 20/20 is showing a special on vulvovaginal/chronic pelvic pain conditions in women. Since this long path began in November, Dr. G has been one of the first and only doctors to give me real answers. I think every woman should watch this show. I don't know exactly what will be discussed. But I came into my first appointment with him not understanding a lot of things that hurt me were indicative of serious issues. I don't want any of you to experience similar problems and wait so long to seek help. Pelvic floor dysfunction and pelvic chronic pain can also affect men.

It would really mean a lot if my close family and friends saw this so they could understand what I've been going through (hopefully the show will discuss pelvic pain).

Let me know what you think! I hope the show doesn't disapoint!

I wanted to post this here in case any of you are interested. While it doesn't relate to Migraine disease, hopefully it will bring a little more attention to the world of chronic pain. And it's good to see a major news network doing a special on a potentially embarrassing/personal subject like gynecological issues. Flower

Both, I think... my memory from when I lived on the east coast is that 20/20 comes on at 10 pm, and I just checked our listings here and it looks like it'll be on at 10 pm here, too. Though it may be at 9 pm Central Time, since a lot of tv there is broadcast earlier. You guys may want to check your local listings to be sure.

I'll definitely check it out. The more coverage of invisible illnesses the better! 20/20 is usually pretty reliable for presenting correct information in a manner that's not over the heads of most of their viewers, IIRC. I may be completely off on that though...it's been a while since i watched anything after 10pm!
