I got a follow-up chest x-ray last Monday. I got mail from the doctor's office on Friday saying that my pneumonia was "partially resolved" and to call in a month to arrange for another x-ray. The fact I haven't had much of a cough at any point is probably not helping the pneumonia clear.

I'll have to call the office on Monday to see if it's safe for me to get a flu shot. I had hoped to take care of that on Monday.

Dang!

I was pulling for "done and over with and gone for good"! At least you've been feeling pretty much okay. That's got to help while you wait.

I'll keep hopin'!

I called the doctor today, and she said I could get a flu shot as long as I felt OK (and I'd been feeling OK all along) but I could NOT get a pneumonia shot as of yet. So I did get to go get my flu shot. That's taken care of.

The never-ending saga of my asymptomatic pneumonia.

I got mail from the doctor's office yesterday showing that the chest x-ray I had two weeks ago showed "significant improvement." But still not clear! I am to call the office to make another appointment in three months. At that time, I'll be seen in the office and have another chest x-ray.

No wonder I have felt continuously as though I had a very, very mild cold.

Oh, jeez. Sorry to hear that the pneumonia is still hanging on. I can only imagine how it must feel to hear that you're not "all clear" yet...

Hope the next x-ray shows more signs of significant improvement

Aww Nut that stinks! I was hoping to hear it was good and gone.
What do they do for you if you have pneumonia that long? Just wait for it to go away?

Yes, this was walking pneumonia. I took antibiotics at the start, and I think they did jumpstart the healing. Most people with pneumonia cough up a lot of the fluid in their lungs. One of my problems is that I haven't had much of a cough at any point, so there's no where for the fluid to go except to be slowly absorbed into my system. I'm sure that's why it's taking so long.

At least I've felt fine from the start. I'm to go back to the doctor in three months and have another chest x-ray.

I had walking pneumonia when I was little. I don't remember much about it other than feeling extremely tired and just not good all over. Here's hoping for the all-clear when you go back for your next x-ray. Fingers Crossed

Here's an update. It took a few days for me to be ready to post this.

When the radiologist read my fourth chest x-ray, he said he didn't know if what he saw was infiltrate or blood vessels. At that point, my primary doctor said, Enough already! She sent me for a CT scan of the chest, which I had on 4/3/08, just before I went on vacation.

When I returned, I had a message from my doctor asking me to call to discuss my CT scan results. When we talked, the doctor told me to get writing materials to take notes, which I did. Apparently I have a soft tissue nodule, not calcified, and tethered to the chest wall. We have no idea what it is, but the radiologist believed it to be a "benign process." Likely possibilities are scar tissue or a blood clot. So I will have another CT scan in 6 months to see if it has changed. In the meantime, I'm to call the doctor immediately if I have any symptoms.

I'm a little shaken. There is something in my chest that we don't understand.

On Friday, I talked to my doctor again. Since I'd just been flying in an airplane, she wanted me to have a doppler study to be sure there were no clots in my legs. Pronto. So I had that on Friday morning. I will be very surprised if that turns up anything.

Oh Nutcracker,
Sometimes don't you just feel likes it it doesn't just rain it pours? The doppler at least doesn't hurt and you don't have to do any icky prep for.

I'm sure it will all be fine. But yes, how frightning to get all this information. You doctor sounds wonderful and very forthright and certainly does not mess around with anything which is great. Wish they were all like that.

Group Hug All will be well as it settles down for you. It's been a hard few days hasn't it?

Take care,

Cindy

Nut,

I was wondering how you were doing with the pneumonia... Thank you for sharing. I bet it takes a bit for you to process it all yourself. I would be shaken too.

I will start praying for you for this. When I say that, I truly mean I will.

We're here with you.

Wow...praying, honey...

I had walking pneumonia 15 years ago. It left scar tissue in my lungs that took some years to resolve.

Maybe that's what's happening with you?

Take it easy sweetie. Flower
