It looks like Janet Jackson was recently diagnosed with Migraine-associated vertigo, and this particular celebrity gossip blogger has decided to mock her diagnosis.
Hello Hello, Turns Out Janet Jackson’s Poorly With Vertigo (note that some of the language at that post is not family-friendly) Granted, most of this blog post is meant to mock Janet Jackson, not Migraine, but some of it still rubbed me the wrong way.
Plus the various news releases refer to "vestibular Migraine", which as we know isn't one of the IHS's standard diagnoses. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com "What will you do, if it does not turn out how you expect?" I read it. It rubbed me the wrong way too. It does seem the author was trying to mock Janet Jackson and not Migraine or MAV. But, in the process, he undermined it. The quote you highlighted, MJ, really bristled my tail feathers. Very irritating.
But, in my opinion, the author saw this as an opportunity to write his version of the story using derogatory language so as to bad-mouth JJ. Clearly he has no understanding of how debilitating Migraine can be. I was going to leave a comment, but I am not sure that it would make any difference. His article didn't exactly exude compassion. I commented - I agree with you Kelly that he was clearly not trying to be compassionate to begin with - but if Janet Jackson had been diagnosed with MS or epilepsy I'm sure he would still have been snide about her but bet he wouldn't have made fun of the disease itself!

Good point Megs. I read your comment. Well said. I forgot what he said about "a bit of a headache." You are right, he was being snide about the disease. I commented too. I just would like for people, if they can't consider anything else, to realize the struggle we have. In this case, "Migraines aren't headaches!" has never been more true.
I think I have that little speech down fairly well at this point. www.aloofelf.blogspot.com www.twitter.com/leeloosmigraine My disabling chronic illness is more real than your imaginary medical expertise. |

I left a comment. It's people like this we have to fight everyday. Really irritates me.

Now that I'm a bit less brain foggy, I left a comment as well.
