It got off to a shaky start when I had a migraine start almost as I pulled into the driveway of the building.

After that, I had my list of questions for him. He answered some of them, and the others, we talked about why this may not be the best choice...

After that, I got my prescriptions- everything I had asked for and more. I walked out of the office with two double spaced pages of Rx's done by computer!

Got the nerve blocks done- it actually HURT this time, I was so tight... and it bled on on side- fairly minorly, but he did give me a bandaid for one of the sites so it didn't get on my shirt (brand-spanking new work clothes)

And at the end of the visit, I got the frova samples to take care of the migraine that got me earlier. <whew> I was able to drive home once it took hold and chased the bad beastie out of my head.

Started the new drug- Verapamil. So, now I'm on a spelling-challenged person's nightmare combo- Amitriptyline and Verapamil.

I am tired... didn't sleep too much. and now the blocks are starting to scream "ouch."

Thanks for reading this far! Thanx

I'm glad things went well Jamie! Smiler Let's hope that nerve block really gives you some quick relief!

I'm sure you probably already know this, but it's sometimes nice to take Magnesium along with that Verapamil. The Verapamil can make you pretty consitpated, but the Magnesium kinda counter-acts that. (At least it did for me!--You DEFINITELY don't need constipation on top of everything else! Eeker) Ask your doc about it if he didn't warn you!!

Sounds like it went really well, It is always good to hear about the positive experiences since we hear so many of the negative ones, they tend to shadow our hope. Thanks for sharing!

Thanx I wanted to just pass on this- partially to show how much self-advocacy can really be a tool in your belt when dealing with doctors, etc.

I'm so grateful for all the info I do have, and the fact that I can talk intelligently. my HA specialist seems to enjoy the give and take of an intellectual conversation, and I like being part of my own treatment team!

Ok- back to icing my neck and shoulders. Offline for a while.

Well, I donno if they're gonna work yet (power of positive thinking says "Yes,") but I'm not as physically drained as when I was on the norvasc. This is a great thing. DH is going to be seriously thrilled to not have his partner falling asleep at 8:30- 9 each night, should this keep up. It's day 2 on the verapamil, and I'm more "with it," and less slightly moody.

I feel like this is gonna go somewhere. Thumbs Up

Lol, too funny! I should be finding out this afternoon if I'm going back on Verapamil Big Grin. I'm waiting for a call/email back from my doctor to let me know what he's calling in.

Glad your appointment went well! Flower

I remember reading that verapamil worked for you a while ago- hope it may have a second life as your "miracle drug," should that be what he called in.

I'm feeling SO much more energy. It scares me that I didn't notice how cranky and icky I was to other people- especially to poor DH- who has had to have seen the transformation in me- especially when I went up to 10mg of Norvasc.

I hope I get to join the singing verapamil chorus of those who sing its praises!

Hugs and keeping my fingers crossed for you! Fingers Crossed

Jamie

Iffin you were cranky and icky, you hid it very well around here. I certainly never picked up on it.

Even when I know you're having a bad day because you've said so you've always been perfectly pleasant and cheerful in these parts. Unless you have droolie snowed! Big Grin

I too am hopping on the verapamil wagon. LOL. I am tapering off of the Zonegran that does not seem to be working and will be starting on 1 120 then 2 verapamil within the next few weeks. Thumbs Up

My new doc seems to think that I am on enuff mag to keep the constipation wolves at bay. My old neuro is leaving to newer 'fields' and I interviewed 3 docs (my DH thought that I was totally insane) before I found 1 that isn't intimidated by me being knowledgable about migraine disease and my other health issues and being a part of my healthcare team. Big Grin

Doc also wants a MRA done ASAP, never had one done before... Don't know how I overlooked that, but it is scheduled for Monday and covered by insurance. Confused

Good Luck Princess Grace!! (Jamie)

Thanks, Droolie! Embarrassed It's good to know that I haven't been spreading the ick that I'm guessing was hanging around from the norvasc.

I guess the cranky may have not been communicated, as I didn't realize I was crankier than I should be... Well- with the exception of when I spent a week on crutches. Then, I was cranky. And y'all knew it! Devil
