As I was in the urgent care facility yesterday to get stronger meds, as my rescue just wasn't cutting it, I desperately had to throw up.
No problem, right? Wrong. After a particular violent wave of nausea/upchucking, I felt somewhat better. Stood up, and was ready to leave. And then wave two hit. Because they do drug testing at this facility, they pump in blue air freshener dye every once and a while so that no one can dilute their urine form the fresh bowl water. (Of course, they have a sink right next to the toilet, I donno how much good it does) Wave two was worse. I leaned over the toilet exhausted. And then it hit me. Literally. Blue stuff. Gobs of liquid blue air freshener were suddenly on me (I had picked up the seat for a better target while puking... And when I say blue, I mean, I was hit with the blue dye that they use . On shirt, neck, hands, etc. They didn't apologize, of course, and then accused me of being a drug seeker later. Meanwhile, since the doctor was just getting ready to come in to my room and I had waited for over an hour, I just let the dye stay there, and raced back to the examining room covered in blue stuff. Not a great first impression. She then wanted to give me toradol/phenergan. THat would have been nice, if I wasn't sensitive to toradol- makes me have stomach cramps for hours and dry heave, despite any anti-nausea meds given. As for the phenergan. HELLO! I had just told her I drove there (Bad Jamie. "So, you want me to write you narotic" she said to the blue covered-girl, who nodded. She said "what about imitrex." In my chart, lady. No imitrex for Jamie. "I give you imitrax (sic) stat dose- less side effects" The blue girl: Sure- make sure you call the ER first= I'll be there very soon with that. She loaded me up with rescue meds after hearing that. Surprisingly, she never asked about the fact that my body was temporarily dyed blue. |

Bad toilet!
Silly Doctor! Jamie home relaxing and migraine free. Ahhhh! Kelly p.s. did the dye stain your clothes? I've seen on movies where theifs get stained when they open the bags of cash after they rob the bank. Now were you trying to steal that toilet, Jamie?! Is that why it sprayed you blue?! my blog: http://flywithhope.blogspot.com/ "Though perseverance does not come from our power, yet comes within our power." - St. Francis de Sales |

Oh, yeah, I definitely wanted a toilet where thousands of non-well people had used. How did you know? Right now I'm still on rescue meds. Left a meeting after my head hit the table. Sooo sleepy. And another lie- the fioricet wouldn't knock me out. She gave me that and percocet, saying that Percocet would be bad for working at my desk thanks to sleep. Well, the gobs of times I've used it- for neck, knee, head, I've been mentally clear as a whistle. Can't wait to go home. I donno why I'm even here other than to sit in my chair. I can't do anything that involves thinking |

Also, are you going to be able to drive home safely with the way the meds are affecting you? I know sometimes they worry about that. Perhaps a co-worker could drive you adn then your hubby adn you could come back later for your car whne you aren't as drowsy. Wound up being ok to drive the 5 minutes home. I hate leaving my car there overnight-It'a almost like an invitation to break into my car, as there are only 2 state-owned cars left overight in the lot. If I feel capable, I'll usually bring it home...as for hubby, he'll be out with friends tonight, and I want to go to sleep early.
As of now, I have almost 3 hours left to see here and drool (sorry, Droolie for stealing your name) |

Ohh, Jamie!!! Gross!! Now only did you actually have to throw up in one of those yucky toilets, but to have to carry the icky blue stuff all over you!!!--UGH!!
In my ER they always give me this really goofy thing in case I have to throw up with migraine (as if there was actually a chance that I would be there and NOT throw up...). It looks like an empty ice pack but it's make of the same stuff that hospital gowns are made of. I have NEVER managed to actually hit the thing when I do throw up...what a waste! I hope you are feeling better really soon. (And I hope you never have to see that toilet again!!) |

No worries there! I was doing much the same at work today. We coulda had one heck of a contest!
A mig started to hit last night right before bed that I thought I could sleep off. It wasn't a severe one by any means. But...it was one of those quirky ones where whenever I'd lie down, the whole heartbeat in my ear thing would make me extremely uncomfortable and the pain would spike up a bit. After about a half hour I gave in and took my Midrin. An hour after that, when the Midrin buzz wouldn't let me sleep, I had to take a Soma. Problem was that I only got 5.5 hours of sleep with the Soma. I've got to get at least 7 if I don't want to be more than a groggy Provebial Paperweight all day. To top it off, the silly mig wanted to reflare at school. I finally took another Midrin because I figured I couldn't feel any groggier or ickier than before I took it. The beast broke around lunchtime, which was good, but I'm still a bit zombified around the edges. I think it'll be one of those lounge around and vegetate nights. (Yes, TeriMom. I shall practice pampering!

You didn't get any of that blue stuff in your eyes, did you?
I'm not sure which is grosser (if that's a word), your encounter with the toilet, or the encounter with the ER doc. And unlike the toilet, which was powerless over the situation, the ER doc should have known better. Hope you soon feel better. |

Poor Jamie! I am so sorry that happened to you. As if the origianl migraine wasn't bad enough, then to have to deal with stupid blue toilet water, all over you - how horrible. It sounds like you have my kind of luck. Not that I have ever been sprayed with blue toilet water, just sounds like something that would happen to me!!
I see you are not feeling much better today? You really should have stayed home. Please rest all you can tonight!! Remember - you have to take care of yourself!! Take care, Sherry Sherry "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." ~ Plato c. 427-347B.C. |

Aww, poor Jamie. I think the blue stuff all over me would have caused even more vomiting. Nut said it best, that the toilet was powerless over its grossness, but the ER doc should have known better.

Ok, so just when I was feeling better, and 2 showers later, a weather system came through. Nope. No diamox on board. And the 1st migraine did break on its' own, thank goodness!

But Droolie- Hope you're feeling much better this morning! Deb- Your word was exactly correct Nut- No, no blue goo in the eyes All- thanks for caring! |
