To make it easier on my Docs (and me!), I have a spread sheet of meds/supplements, their dosages and what they are for. On it I also include allergies (and their reactions), meds that I'm not allergic to but may not have a "wonderful" experience on (and their reactions)and what procedures I've had done and when. My boyfriend has a current copy in the car in case we are out and something should happen as does my mother. I have one in my purse too.

The Docs all really seem to appreciate having the info right in front of them, and several have commented that they wish all their patients were as organized.

Wishing you pain-free days,

Lynn

Great tip, Lynn!

I do something similar in MS Word. I also have a page with the contact info for my various doctors. When I need prescriptions written, I have a sheet with how each of them needs to be written for our mail order pharmacy company. I just mark through any I don't need and give the sheet to the nurse. She said she really appreciates it since prescriptions have to be written so many different ways for the various plans.

I also keep a copy of the document on my MedicAlert EHealthKEY.

Here's a good one for you... When I went to my cardiolostis a couple of months ago, the jerk looked at my typed list of meds and commented that it seemed obsessive compulsive to him and that I should consult a psychiatrist! Red Face

Thanks again. This is a great tip!

Teri,

Thanks! I also have the spread sheet with Docs, contact addresses, email, phone and websites if they have them.

I just keep it all on a regular key, but print of a meds sheet each office visit.

Thanks for the RX idea, I'm just changing over into one of those situations. The specialty pharmacy is crazy!

I was also told I was obsessive compulsive, but in the same breath, "How do you keep it all straight?" Duh! My boyfrirnd piped up - that's why there's a sheet!

Oh well...I'd still prefer to be called obsessive compulsive and know what's going on in my life!

I also have a word doc for each doc and write down questions or discussions I want to have with them for the next visit and in Google notebooks, I have clipped articles and they are organized by doc/health condition. Then I can either print out the whole page or copy/paste the whole section....of course I just downloaded clipmarks for firefox and it's even easier to insert in my document of choice! Of course, I could just be a geek!

Wishing you pain-free days,

Lynn

Oh my. Looks like a certain cardiologist has an acute case of fear "of informed patient"-osis. While it's not listed per se in the DSM, I think that the appropriate cure can be obtained by the rapid application of one of Lisa's frying pans. :-)

rofl! Obsessive compulsive, huh? So being a responsible patient is now indicative of mental disorder? Hmmmmm...

lol, I don't know if I'd even WANT to know what your response was to that one. But someone, I have a feeling that doc may have been left feeling like there was a new hole in his posterior. Wink

Lynn,

You're welcome. His nurse had thanked me profusely for having that info. Every other doctor and nurse have thought it was great. I suggested that maybe we could get a group rate if he went for treatment of his "I'm-God-I-Know-It-All" complex. He was not amused. Eeker

hugs,

Is this the same cardiologist who told you that you didn't need anethesia for your heart cath? OH MY...I'm surprised that he's still alive. He wouldn't have been if I'd have been there. I'd have skinned him alive. Without any medication, of course. Smiler

My doc 'family' loves my med list. So far, none think that it's compulsive although 1 nurse insisted that I bring my meds and not my list. I told her - nicely - not a chance. She told me that they do a med exchange. I don't think so.....
