My what an interesting couple of weeks!
Here I am, trying ot get my act together and get myself back into grad school to try to get my Masters in Speech Pathology, and this happens. My husband and I have settled in to watch our two favorite TV shows: Mythbusters and Ghosthunters a couple Wednesdays ago when someone knocks on our door. It's our across the street neighbor come to drop a bomb on us. Apparently, while we've been blissfully unaware fo the world around us, there was a head-on collision about a half a block up on our street. One of the cars got wrapped around a utility pole, the other went completely and seriously out of control. It rampaged through the neighbor's yard hitting their van and pushing up through the front of their house before continuing on down to our yard where my poor little Metro stopped it. The verdict, end of my car. So, for the last two weeks we've been scrambling to find out how to fit in a second car payment around our budget (something we knew would be coming, the Metro did have 185K miles on it after all), and find said car for me. Lucky for us, Emterprise car sales happened to actually have $6000 car, soemthing they usually don't have. Even luckier that I was the first person to express interest in it, so we got dibs. Still, in the face of trying to figure out how to re-arrange my life around going back to school, I did not need to lose my car. |

ARRRRGGGGHHHH! That's so not cool, even if you were expecting to replace your Metro in the near future. That sounds like quite the collision. Was everyone okay?

No one was seriously injured. The lady who caused the whole thing walked away from the crash although they took her to the hospital just to be safe. The family in the one car that was wrapped around the utility spent the night in the hospital, but since the ambulane didn't go in lights and siren's, they weren't critical, just hurting pretty bad. Not that that is good, but I'd rather be hurting than one the verge of death.

I'm glad everyone was ok. I'm always afraid of cars going through houses - that's why I'm glad I live up on a hill.

Thank goodness everyone is ok. We just had a horrible accident with 5 teen age girls who died in their car while trying to pass an 18 wheeler. Car exploded on impact, all died inside car. Truck driver walked away, and was not repsonsible at all for the incident. Just when you think all is ok........ |

I feel bad for that truck driver, Nancy. He may not have been in any way responsible, but I bet he still has nightmares.

It seems to me that somebody else's liability insurance should kick in here.
Or. are y'all in ano-fault state? Rebecca |

We got insurance to pay it, but both of us missed more work than we wanted to in the meantime.
The insurance payout was not in any way going to cover a replacement car, and where I drive 34 miles to work, I need some thing dependable to replace it. That's why we go through Enterprise. They've done well by us for our two previosu cars, and we can get low-mileage cars from them. We feel like they definitely had to take care of the cars prior to selling them off, and that they'd have trouble selling their old fleet off if they sold of bad product. |
