greetings one and all, i've decided to enter the forums this day. There's my proclamation. I've had migraines for..... a long time. I have "classic" migraines with negative aura. My vision gets weird beforehand, there's spots I can't see through and it grows. It kind of reminds me of what happens if you get water on a tv screen, except it sort of moves. I get dizzy, and nauseous. I always say that the pain is the easiest part to deal with. I have headaches a lot, I'm used to them I supposed you could say. I can deal with it. But the debilitating-ness of migraines is a lot different, and unnerving. I have always been on the borderline with the frequency of my migraines of whether or not to take preventative medicine. I tried a few years ago, but nothing that made much of a difference. I'm thinking of trying something again, as long as it is not nasal spray. I have never had good success with nasal spray

One more thing I forgot to mention. I do seem more susceptible to migraines at certain times, relating to hormones levels I believe, but Many times it seems my migraines are triggered by light. If I watch tv and there is a reflection of a light in the tv, I will get a migraine and my visual distortion aura will start wherever the reflection was in my field of vision. I get headaches, not always migraines on sunny days. I wear sunglasses, but if the sun reflects in through the sides of the sunglasses and make a reflection on the inside where i'm trying to look through, again I'll always get a migraine. Most times it seems that the visual disturbance starts in or eventually moves to my lower right hand field of vision. I don't know if any of this is of significance but I thought I'd share it anyway.

"Classic migraine" is an old term for what is now called migraine with aura. I'm a little concerned if your doctor is still using the old language. Here's some info on migraine with aura for you: Migraine With Aura – The Basics The question of whether or not to take preventives is, and should remain, between you and your doctor. That said, the usual recommendation is that anyone who averages more than two migraine attacks a month should take preventives. There are so many possibilities for preventives that nearly every one of us can be helped: Migraine Preventive Medications - Too Many Options To Give Up!
