Hey, gang!

Hope everyone is as pain-free as possible today.

Who has or had (depending on when you read this) holiday weekend plans? The forum was pretty quiet yesterday, and I'm hoping that means lots of you were feeling well and out doing something!

John and I are having a pretty quiet weekend. We rented a couple of movies, and we're learning how to use our new cable box that will record two programs at once while we're watching a third one. Other than that, I'm taking advantage of the relative quiet to write some articles.

huggles,

We have plans to have no plans. Joe is home from college, and he's gone to a cookout at his girlfriend's neighbor's house. When he called to tell me he was coming home (he was thinking about staying for the weekend and studying, but there's a football game and parking was really messed up), he asked if we had plans. I told him that we didn't, but we'd be glad to make some if he wanted.

One of the grocery stores has whole sirloin strip on sale. I've been wanting a strip steak recently, so if I get the inclination, I'm going to go get one. We can have one tomorrow and freeze the rest. I've sliced whole ribeyes and pork loins before, but I've never seen strips on sale before.

DH got a new casino computer game and is testing out new craps strategies. That's cheaper than testing them at the real casino. I had some sewing plans, but my fancy machine is in the shop. My old machine doesn't do what I want to do.

All in all, a "no plans" weekend.

BIL is in town to celebrate his 50th. DH, BIL & 2 SIL's got together last night to have supper & talk over their parents' 50th b-days. Kat & I stayed at Edgewater & had Captain D's.

I'm to meet Mary today to swap vehicles. She needs my pickup for her horse show next w/end. We will meet in Columbia, SC, which is halfway between here and Clemson. She's stuck at a "doc-in-a-box". She has swollen glands and sore throat. Been there over 2 hours. She'll call when she's done.

I'm taking it easy today - reading, sleeping & playing on 'puter. Weather is cloudy & cool - 80 degrees outside right now. What a relief! Am postdrome, but OK.

No real plans for tomorrow. Painting is pretty much done. We moved beds into master bedroom last eve. Will move other furniture into other rooms as time permits. We may just be in Edgewater by end of Sept!

No real plans here either. Plans to have no plans! Oh, I have to clean... Thumbs Down I wanted to do it yesterday and get it out of the way...but I took a nap instead. I did some of it today...

Shawn and I went and did a little shopping today. Went to the bookstore (Borders). No good Migraine books though...just the one LeeLoo didn't recommend....so I thought better and saved my money! LOL We did, however, take advantage of the 2 for 3 sale and I got 2 others for just $1! Shawn got a couple CD's. We went to Target and picked up another litter box for the kitties. (I know you are all so wishing you lived my exciting life now!!) LOL

We may watch a movie later - if we can ever agree on one....

Tomorrow I've promised a nice home cooked breakfast so that will be nice. Then it's doing all the housework I put off the rest of the weekend.
It's been good though - good enough that I actually had some wine tonight because I had a feeling there was no migraine in sight. So yeah, it's been nice.

It's been beautiful here the last couple days!

I hope the rest of you are enjoying as well!!

We had some friends over on Saturday to lay out at the pool and then we watched Alabama play football. It was a great game for us(52-6).

Today, Chuckie had a mild migraine about a 4 on the pain scale for about 3 hours. He kept a cold water bottle on his right eye while we were running errands in town. He felt better the rest of the day and actually played outside.

Hubby is watching NASCAR. I've been catching up on here and getting a headstart on some payrolls.

Tomorrow, I have to finish about 8 payrolls for clients and complete some other work tasks. I also have to update Chuckie's migraine log and get my questions orgazined for the new pediatric headache specialist on Thursday. Keep your fingers crossed Fingers Crossed that this doctor will be able to help him.

Hoping everyone is enjoying their Labor Day weekend!

I have no plans, hubby and I are on call during this very dry season, the supposed last of the tourists - not likely. As 20+ year volunteer firefighters and a very dry season, we have been busy, 3 25+ acre brush fires in the last 3 days caused by acts of stupidity Skillet - cigarettes tossed out the window as best we can tell.

Trying to keep the migraine monster under a tight leash Roll Eyes - had a MRI on Friday, the doctor wants to know why we can't rein in this last monster and is looking for a 'new' cause. Appointment with him on Thursday. All will go fine - if attitude is a guide, mine is a 10!

Stay well and thanks Thanx to ya'll for all of your hard work. Remember all Emergency Responders in your thoughts and prayers - especially volunteers. Thumbs Up

Happy holiday weekend, everyone!

My family and I have been into the "quiet family time" lately--avoiding big parties, cookouts, etc. to keep my head under control!

Yesterday, we decided to throw all that out the window and we took the kids to a local amusement park! They had a fabulous time! My older son even rode on the biggest roller coaster in the park! (He's only 6 and the coaster wasn't all that big, but he thought it was a very big deal!!!) I don't really ride the rides because my migraines are SO easily triggered by movement! But I'm GREAT at hauling my younger son on and off of kiddieland rides! And I make a mean picnic lunch!

So now we're probably on the "bad" list with our neighbors and extended family: we skipped 2 cookouts to go to the amusement park instead. I have decided that my boys and husband are the most important right now--the others will just have to understand.

Hope you all are well and having a terrific day!
Heartjenny

PS--Firefighter, I never thought about it, but the elephant thing does make perfect sense! I'll keep you and your fellow Emergency Responders in my prayers!!

It was an annual camping trip for our family. We couldn't have asked for nicer weather, and had a great time enjoying the mountains. My heart goes out to all of the voluteer firefighters like you. During these huge fire seasons, which seem to get worse every year, it's due to the work of people like you that we still have great mountain getaways to go camping at. I for one appreciate that very much. Smiler

My husband and I went out of town to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.

If anyone is familiar with Missouri, we went to Lake of the Ozarks and stayed at Tan Tar A resort. We had an AMAZING time!

We had amazing weather considering what all of August was like; we were able to sit out on our deck that overlooked the lake and watch the boats and stars at night (and we got chilly!). We tried jet skis but I got about 100 feet from the dock and turned around - it wasn't for me. We went on a fireworks cruise, we hung out at the pool and just spent a lot of good time together.

Tomorrow is our acutal anniversary and we're going to see a movie and go out to eat. I really don't want Wednesday to ever come. Wink
