Hello again.
I am wondering if any of you have any experience with the Headache Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. It is not listed on this site, but I came across it while trying to research migraines in children. The center does participate with my insurance, so it is something we can afford to do. I am just hoping that this is a good center as we will have to travel quite a ways to get there. Also, what information do you think I would need to bring with me. The woman who scheduled the appointment insisted that all I needed was a referral and our insurance card. Emilia has had multiple MRI's CT's and angiograms sleep study's and EEG's over the last three years as well as other testing. I want to make sure I have all the info needed, without requesting copies of everything. Thanks, Kim |

Hi Kim, I don't have any personal experience with the clinic you mention. I did want to point you toward these two articles, if you haven't seen them already.

I would definitely think that any finding from the MRIs, CTs, and EEGs might be helpful. I don't know about the angiogram. Some clinics might want to start from scratch with everything, including tests, but others will be glad to get prior records, which can help to establish a baseline. You could always contact your current clinic and ask them to forward a copy of your daughter's pertinent records to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital ahead of your appointment.

Hi Kim
I do not have any experience with that clinic. My son did see Dr. Yonker in Delaware. She is an excellent doctor. She gave me 3 referrals. This clinic was one of them. It was the furthest of the 3 referrals so we never went there. I think it's a good choice. If it had been closer, I would have gone there. I did check out their website and it sounds like a good program. I have a 3 ring binder with all of Andrew's medical information in it. I have copies of all the tests that he had done. I think it's better to be overprepared. I was hauling MRI films with me all over the place. Some doctors wanted to see them and others just wanted to see the report. In the binder I also have a list of medications, when they were tried, who prescribed them and how they worked. I have the doctors notes from all the other doctors too. Of course, the headache diary is in there as well. I have my own notes on various items. Good Luck. Let us know how you make it. Jean Ann |

Hi, My son was diagnosed with migranes about a year ago and then became chronic this last fall, at that point we started treatment in the headache clinic at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital.
Although I could gripe a little about return calls and so forth, I felt and still do that we are at the best possible place for his condition. He has recieved excellent nuerological medical care there both inpatient and outpatient. He has been taught pain management through biofeedback and various relaxation techniques. 7 north even has a wonderful massage therapist on staff who does massage as well as cranial sacral therapy. All of the previous testing we had had done was at a cin. childrens facility so they already had access to those tests. Good Luck! |

Hi Aidensmom!
Welcome to MyMigraineConnection, and to our forum family. I've broken up your paragraph into an easier-to read format, as some of our forum members are unable to process that much information in that particular format. How old is Aiden? Sounds like you've got a great place to get treatment. Congrats on finding someplace that you're happy with Again welcome, and if there's anything we can help with, just holler! |

Thanks for the welcome, I was happy to find this site. We have had a difficult year..after having chronic migraines we eventually got them under control with Elavil only to take him off becuase of seizures. He was just also diagnosed with epilepsy last week. We are starting on Topamax and hoping it will also control the headaches!
We just also asked for a 504 and I don't feel the school was very receptive. |

We've got a TON of discussion on 504 plans throughout the threads in this folder. The easiest way to sort it all out would be to use find/search button and pull up posts.
