Hello I’m new to the list but have read it for awhile, sometimes its better to just listen. I’ve had migraines since High school (back in the 80’s). On average I get 2-3 a week and mine are triggered by the weather mostly. Mine come on when the pressure drops and just when it starts to climb is when mine sets in.

I’ve been a medicine guinea pig for quite a few years now. Some work and some don’t, but what I have found is the ones that work all have side effects and the ones that don’t work have no side effects.

Imetrex was a life saver for me back in the early 90’s as before that I had to wait out the migraines. All the trips have worked for me but I seem to stick with Imetrex.

I have been on Topamax for about two years but just got off it as I need a break from the side effects. Depakote helps alittle and that’s what I’m back on now along with a channel blocker.

I’m still looking for that golden bullet but till the day they find a cure I’ll just keep trying. I wish you all luck in finding what works for you.

Darryl

Hi Darryl and welcome to our forum family Flower

You sound just like me, one of my biggest triggers is the weather. My brain doesn't care if the barometric pressure goes up or down, it throws me for a loop either way.

Do you see a migraine or headache specialist ? I recently started seeing Dr. Krusz in Dallas and he is fantastic! Plus, my migraines don't last as long; always a great thing!

You mentioned preventatives. There are over 100 medications that can be used for Migraine prevention and virtually endless combinations of them.

I look forward to seeing you around the forum. If you have any questions just ask away!

Hi Darryl - Glad you decided to come out and play with us! i know what you mean about looking for the golden bullet - it's hard to deal with how complex this disease is, and the treatment options, and the life-style changes, and everything! I wrote a little bit about that on my blog recently - about wanting a magic pill - if you want you can read it Here

Anyway, hope to see you around the forum!
- Megs
