Hi guys,

I was totally worried the other day that I wouldn't make it into the PFO study.

I am happy to report that I've been accepted into the pre-screening process. At this point, I am waiting to see a dermatologist to discover if I am allergic to nickel. If I am, then I cannot proceed.

I was given another TCD test for the study purposes. I almost bolted out the door when they told me I had to get another one, because the last one caused such a severe migraine...I don't need to go into those details because I know everyone knows how it goes...But it came on suddenly. So I was scared to death to have the test again.

Sure enough, not seconds passed after the TCD was over that I immediately went blind with aura and straight into headpain. Thankfully they listened to me and gave me an Axert right after the test. I was still considerably ill, but not as bad as the last time. The second dose and a well-earned nap has gotten rid of the remnants.

Since I can't give details of the study, though, I can tell you that they are trying to get me into a implant-sure group that knows they are getting it, outside of the control group. This is why we've been trying so hard to make it into the study.

If I pass the allergy test I still need to keep a diary for a month, and get another echocardiogram. and can be exempted at any point. I'm hoping I make it past this hurdle; if I do, I may be having surgery sometime in August. They said they move quickly on this.

Anyway, that is what is going on...Thank you to those who sent me good thoughts and perhaps prayed for me. I appreciate it!

I was thinking about you all day today. I'm so glad you made it to this point! I wish you the best of luck through the remaining testing. You will still be in my thoughts and prayers.

I am really excited for your study. I was contacted by the reaserch group in St.Louis, but right now I am doing better and am getting ready to go back to medical school. School leaves me no wiggle room for travel/extra time. Let us know how it goes!

Woooooo HOOOOOOOOO! YAY!!! I can't tell you how thrilled I am to hear this news- I know you were worried about making it in, and the fact that you did- already means that some change has been made and you're getting less HA days....so... Wow- a pre-condition of the trial that makes things better for you?! I'm all about that!

Anyhow, congrats again, and I can't wait to hear as much as you can/want to share with us about the process!

Big Hugs!

Excellent! I wonder why nickel? I'd think they'd use something like aluminum or titanium. Lots of people are sensitive to nickel.

I'm saying a special prayer for you.
