ARRG Im so angry and frustrated and stressed! I just need to vent for a while. Just when my head starts feeling a bit better too!

I got called by an investigator of one of our local news channels yesterday. We had been stressed a bit thinking we were going to have to move as our lease option agency was being investigated.

Well apperently its MUCH bigger scam than we first thought, FBI are involved and may be calling us too. Also the investor that financed our house is under investigation now! He bought like 9 houses in 3 months and listed them all as owner-occupy on the mortgage paperwork. This is illegal as its a lease option.

So here we are probably out our 2500 down, payed 1500 a month that we could barely afford thinking that we were getting 200 a month saved toward our down payment, and charged(split up in monthly payment) the taxes and mortgage insurance for the last year! Plus we made upgrades in the house(new windows, Shop) thinking all this time we were purchaching a home!

I shouldnt complain, some people got hammered way worse than us, and lost way more money. But we didnt have much to begin with. And we left our lives in Oregon to move up here to care for ailing in laws! This was to be our home! Now we dont know what to do, but our lease is no good and the investor wants us to sign a new one. Havent talked to him to find out the terms, but He is looking as shady as the company we went with. We just need to walk away and start over.

I dont want to move at all but it looks though we may be moving in the next week suddenly. So here I am thankfully just mildy migraney lately, (but had a doosey last night coming on but midrin helped) And looking at packing and moving a family of 6 in a weeks time at most.

Sorry for long post. I just feel so violated and STUPID! Im the one that found the lease option agency in the first place!
How can someone do things like this to people who needed help so bad in the first place??

Tawsha you have every right to be upset! What you are going through is outrageous! I know you have to put your head down and focus on doing what you need to do right now, but maybe later you can investigate whether you can sue the frauds who put you here? Maybe a lawyer would take this on a contingency basis so you don't have to put in $$ up front or maybe even start a class action with other people who have been exploited like you! IMO they should not get away with it and I hope you can get at least some of your money back - what they did is just Wrong!!!

My thoughts & prayers are with you - hang in there and keep us posted, too.

So sorry to hear of your housing troubles. What a mess. It's not your fault though -- don't blame the victim, hon.

Thank you both! Heart

Megs, It would be nice to be able to sue them! Perhaps that time will come, as there are hundreds of people or more that got scammed by him, many worse than us. The problem is, they cant find him. apperently he is out of the country right now. But that doesnt help us much right now as moving is expensive! We just got our tax refund back, and was planning on paying off bills with it,(working on debt free!) but now have to use the majority to move. Oh well at least we are going to move into a much cheaper place!TRYING to be positive here! Wink

Tawsha,

Oh hun, I am so sorry this is happening to you and your family. This is just terrible Mad This is no way your fault. I know you have to focus on your family right now too. but, megs is right, I think you have recourses. I think this might be tied to what is happening with the FBI is looking at within the mortage lending business in general. I read it in the paper. Also, What that investor did was mortgage fraud and he will probably go to jail for it. And whoever made the loans were shady. I know that doesn't help much now. But, know that we are in your corner and pulling for you and your family. Again, I am so sorry that this is happening....Sending you lots of hugs Group Hug

Take care of yourself, Tawsha. If you were stupid, you wouldn't be coping with this terrible situation in such a practical manner. You and your family will make it through this. Hang in there!

Group Hug Oh tank you all for such wonderful words and support! Heart It truly makes me feel better. I too believe in karma! They will get theirs in the long run.

My hubby and I decided since the investor is more than likely gonna be in trouble too, that we just need to walk and do it NOW.

We found a place to rent yestereday. It by no means is our ideal living situation, but hey its a roof over our heads! Its a 3 story rowhouse,(ugg stairs no goot on joints) no yard for kids and dogs, and out of our kids school district let alone schools!(though its only 5 min. from where we live now)

We looked at 5 places yesterday, and this is the only one big enough, and allows as many pets as we have. The really cool thing is they are totally waving any pet deposits! AND they offered to let us split up the 750 refundable cleaning deposit into payments! Really great landlords and manager there.

I will have to drive the kids to and from school for the rest of the year though.(keep in mind I have one HS, one MS, and one ES as well as homeschooled kid) All schools start and stop at different times. The hardest one is the HS his school starts SO early and gets out an hour before the other 2. The MS and ES are half hour apart, but my MS son is in sports so his schedule depends on the sport at the time. Right now its Basketball, and the 7th graders have to practice before school so he has to go at 630 am.

Oh dear Im rambling now. SORRY Embarrassed Anyway ty again for all your great support, and I will keep my head up and plow through this week of packing and moving Hair Raising

Wow - I'm just catching up with this and this stinks!!!!!

I remember when DH and I were buying our home. Our lawyers secretary recommended a mortgage broker. We checked them out. - what a bunch of scammers! This was right before the big mortgage crisis and housing dropped out (10/06). They approved a morgage for us at some rediculous rate, like 10 or 11% - when prime was only like 6%!

We would have been paying so much money if we did not read the fine print - plus it was an ARM too! When we pretty much told them to take a hike - they told me, practically dared me, saying there was no way anyone would give us a fixed rate mortgage for what we wanted.

Yeah, uh we walked away with 6.625% rate fixed 30 year. Don't ever dare me! They acted like they were the best game in town!

People like that like to make money on other peoples misfortune. It's not your fault. I'm sorry this has happend to you.

All I can say - which is my life lesson! Is pick up - learn from it and move on! Yeah it totally stinks but you will totally get through it.

It's just money. It's just a house. It's just things. You have your family. You have each other. That is what is most important.

With the things I've gone through in the last 4 years - that is the most important lesson I've ever learned. It's just things. Yeah, it stinks you have to move and you are out money, but it's just things. You will make more money, you will get a new place. It's just things.

Trust me. You and your family will get through this, even if it seems like the hardest thing in the world right now. It will make you stronger.

Good luck packing!

Things have a way of working out. Group Hug

Hi Tawsha,

Well, I'm glad you found a place! Even though it's not perfect, you and your family will adjust. It's just temporary--you don't have to stay there forever!

Driving the kids all back and forth will be pretty crazy! I only have two different schools to get to and I still find it a little hectic! But soon that will be part of your normal routine, too. (Just make sure you get to bed early so you arent too exhausted!)

I'll be thinking of you and your family!

Tawsha,
That is just awful! I am so sorry that this has happened to your family! Hopefully he will get what is coming to him.

Good luck with all the moving and adjusting. I am glad the renting managers are nice and hope that you will be able to adjust until things get straightened out again.

I wanted to tell you also I didn't forget about the old albuterol inhalers.
If you have a True Care pharmacy in your area you might be able to get some there...it's not really a chain, it's more like a group that family owned/personal type pharmacies can join. These types of pharmacies usually have "True Care" listed on thier sign but not in the business name, which makes them a little tough to find.

Also, I remember one of the medical suppliers is Cardinal Health. I left the name for the other one at home. Not sure the supplier will help you as an individual but you might be able to talk a pharmacy near you into getting inhalers from them.

I wish you the best of luck.

Tawsha, that is just plain awful that you got stuck in this situation! I'm sure you know it is absolutely not your fault. I agree with everyone here that karma will bite this guy in the butt! He'll get what's coming to him.

I'm sending you lots of hugs. Having to pack your family up and move so quickly I'm sure is stressful. We're all rooting for you though.

Take care of yourself and let us know how you're doing. Group Hug Heart Group Hug

Tawsha, I'm glad you found soemthing so fast! Boo on the stairs, too, and your driving schedule, but better to get out now. It's only half a year and then you can plan on something else.
