Hello everyone. I am new to this site and I'm really hoping I can find some help for my headaches. I am 28 years old and a single mother of a beautiful 5 year old daughter. I have had headaches for quite sometime and no doctor can tell me why or even classify them as to whether they are trully migraines. I have had all kinds of tests done (CAT scans, blood work, you name it) and been on many different medications. I can't find anything that works long term. I have had meds that work for a few months and then the headaches come back. The one thing that I can say for a fact is the headaches 95% of the time come the week before and the week of my cycle. Hopefully I can find someone that can help me on here. I am glad I found this site and very happy to be a part of this forum! Hope to get to know some of you soon! TTYL

Hi, GaPch, welcome to the forum. We're glad you found us. Checking out the info in the Start Here folder at the top of the forum will help you get the most out of your forum experience.
Where to start? That's the question this article asks: Learning About Migraines and Headaches - Where To Start But I also think you should take a look at this article: Types of Migraines and Headaches Getting a diagnosis is key. If you are having trouble getting one, it's time to find a headache/migraine specialist. See this list for ideas: Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists Some of our forum members travel long distances, even by air, to see their specialists. You've found a great place for support and information. Keep the questions and experiences coming! |

Hi GaPch and welcome to the forums! Glad you found us!
One or more of our moderators will be here soon to give you more links, but for now, check out Diagnosing migraines. It gives some basic information of things you can do to help your Dr. diagnose. I get Hemiplegic Migraines, Migraines with Aura and Menstrual Migraines. I too often have horrible migraines the week before, the week of and/or the week after a menstral. Its not uncommon for many of us! Anyway, welcome again! Tawsha |

Hello GaPch and welcome to the forum family
It's great to have you here. You've come to the right place for accurate information and caring support. I know it probably feels as if you've tried every preventive out there, but with over 100 medications in use for Migraine prevention and virtually endless combinations, it's literally impossible to have tried them all. Take a look at Migraine preventive medications: too many options to give up! for more information. Do you keep a Migraine Diary? It's a great tool to track triggers, the effectiveness of medications, and any patterns to your Migraines and headaches. That link will get you to a free downloadable diary. I keep mine on my computer for easy editing. Again, a warm welcome to the forum. If you have any questions, just ask away!! Laura Forum Moderator |
