Welcome! Not a lot of action on the boards on weekends, but I'm sure tomorrow one of the hosts will be along to give you an "official" welcome. Glad you found us.

Welcome! So glad that you have found us. Sounds like you are having a rough time. I don't personally have hemiplegic migraines, but I know there are people who have them. If you search some of the folders, you might read some older threads too. Smiler

I'm going to borrow what someone said to me one time when I was in pain for days/weeks on end: "If I were in your shoes, I would pick up the phone and call your doctor as soon as possible and let them know what is going on with you. I am not a dr, but I know it is not healthy for you to remain in pain for so long."

Please read about Status Migrainous here.

If you are having pain for 72 hours without any pain free time, then perhaps you should go back to the ER or call your doctor now.

Are you seeing a headache specialist?

So happy you are here! Blinking

Kelly

ty mj and kelly! Mj cool! a fellow washingtonian! Ty for the link i had read that, and thats about as much info as I have learned lol.
Kelly,
I have a nerologest I work with,Though this ones fairly new. I have concerns i dont feel ahve been addressed yet. Have called her last week. She put me 0n predlesone, which hasnt helped. I allso had a no fun trip yet again to urgent care. It minimized the pain for then, but not for long, and never did help with the left sided nunbness and weakness or dizzyness. They are pretty limited with what they can treat me with. I cant have narcotics, they triple the intesity of my migraine, no triptans, they can be very harmful, etc. I am planning on calling my Neuro again tomorrow as it seems hte steroids mad pain worse, and of course despite er treatment and steriods, its still not going away. The migraine pain goes form tollerable to very uncomfortable, but the other stuff is really getting in the way. My midrin keeps the pain at bay somewhat. THe constant auras, numbness, tingling, weakness, spaccyness, dizzyness and paralisis is really taking its toll though. I will continue looking through the fourms though I can only handle a bit at a time right nwo. Thanks for the info and welcome!

Totally understandable about the one thing at a time... I am migraining too. So, I understand. I know what you mean, too, about everything together taking a toll. Sometimes enough is just enough! Head Banging

Oh it sounds like you've been through the ringer lately. Here is a Group Hug

Good idea to call your neuro tomorrow and let him know what's going on. Let us know how it goes.

Just in case you need another one. Group Hug

Welcome to the forum. With your type of migraines, I would definitely encourage you to seek out a headache specialist. In the meantime, ask your neurologist about the focus of his/her practice. If it's not headaches or migraines, he/she may be a wonderful neurologist, but not the best choice for you.

Welcome again. I know some people with hemiplegic migraines, as well as our experts, will be by soon to welcome you. Enjoy the forums and all of the info available on this site.

Welcome momsbreak9!

Wow sounds like your house is busy with 4 boys, huh!!!

If I were you - I would find a headache specialist. I see Nutcracker gave you our link. It breaks it down by state, so it's easy to navigate. Keiser Perminente is your insurance? That's not a really big one, but you should be able to find someone who is good within your plan Fingers Crossed.

I know what it's like to go through doctors....I think a lot of us here do! If you have gone through the doctors that are within your plan - and they are not helping - may I suggest finding another doctor - out of network - calling your insurance and having a visit authorized? You can alway say the doctors within the plan you've seen and you need more assistance then they can give you (I'm trying to be nice Big Grin) So at this point you need to go out of network in order to get the care you deserve (if this is what it comes to)

But you can also look at the link for headache specialists, call up their offices - see if they take your insurance - you may be surprised! - Also check in surrounding states if they are close to you - it's your health and if you are willing to travel - that will help you!

Good luck! Get cozy and welcome to the family! Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with!

First and foremost welcome to our family!! Flower

I agree with Eileen (yet again) that you may want to try out of network for your insurance. I have been through more than my share of neuro's through my 20+ yrs of migraines and I have had some of the best docs, at least for me.

My DH's job causes us to move every few years so I understand the frustration looking for a new neuro. I am on my second since we moved here and have seen him twice but his advice and questions and answers seem pretty spot on.

BTW, how did you dr. visit go? Once again, welcome!!

Welcome! I'm glad you have found the forum. I've only been here a couple of weeks, but have learnt soooo much. It's been great to be able to share with people who understand and not feel like I'm the only person dealing with all of this...

I too get hemiplegic migraines, and this is the first place I've ever met anyone else with the same. It's one thing to know from the diagnosis that I'm not the only one, but to actually be able to talk to others with similar issues has been really amazing. I posted a fairly detailed description of my migraines in the Member Introductions under "Painless Hemiplegic Migraines". (The pain-free bit is something for which I am eternally grateful, as they are debilitating enough without it!) There are also some other wonderful people on here with hemiplegics.

I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through a bad one at the moment, and I hope you get some relief very soon. Fingers Crossed

Big hugs, and happy migraine-free thoughts are coming your way!
