After suffering with migraines for 9 years, I was recently prescribed Frova (frovatriptan succinate) 2.5 mg tablets. For me, this is a miracle drug, for within 30 minutes my headache is completely gone. My migraines typically last 2.5-3 days & the frequency is twice per month. They are dibilitating, accompanied by vomiting & all of the common symptoms. The only side effect is a slight discomfort in the sinus area in the top of the pallate for app. 1 hour after administration of the dose. Just wanted to share as it has changed my life!

dkc:

Glad to hear that the Frova is working for you. I hadn't heard of that particular drug, so I did a quick internet search. It looks like Frova is another flavor of triptan (like Maxalt and Imitrex and a few others), though Frova looks like it is specifically formulated for menstrual migraines.

It is amazing to me to think about how far migraine drugs have come. Not too long ago, the only real cure for a migraine was to lock yourself in a dark room with a couple of asprin until the pain went away.

For being unlucky enough to be saddled with this disease, we are lucky enough to have some options, eh?

I am glad Frova is working for you...it did not work for me it was like a war going on in my head. Like the headache would come and med would start to work and then I would be sick and then no pain and then about 20 min it would start all over again...I told the Dr to not recommend it to anybody it was such a horrible 8 hours. BUT I am glad it works for you. How often do you take it?

The best medicine is YOU.

The 2nd best is your significant other and/or family members who can take up the slack when you are at a "migraine party".

"Migraines are caused by fears about sex. Once I got me a good sex partner and started gettin laid regular I quit having headaches."....some idiot

Hi dkc,

Frova is what brought me to this website. I googled "frovatriptan succinate" and it lead me here.

My doc gave this to me, along with an injection, last month when a migraine totally wiped me out. So I'm going to ask for a script and give it a try.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for KrazyCat, but like Rob said, at least we have options now.

I'll give it a real try and see what happens!

Thanks.
