Hello Everyone,
Today is the day I have waited for, for 9 years. My GP diganosed me with Migraine Equivalent. I expected this day to be full of celebrations, pats on my back, and general hysteria (the good kind!) .. but I think I am in denial. It all started when I was 17. Still technically a baby. I remember sitting on the train one day, and whammmm .. out of know where came this overwhleming feeling that made me jump to my feet and run off the train. Now at the age of 26 these feelings have developed in to the most confusing and complex neurological symptoms that I can hardly discribe. I developed Agoraphobia and panic disorder due to my intense fear of these sensations. At one stage I was to scared to even go to the toliet. Neurologists treated me as if I was silly and made me feel so small. Doctor after doctor told me I have personaility disorders and that I should find a professional to talk to. I followed orders and took my anti-depressants but it never helped. I almost lost everything. So today I get to start to rebuild my life, and get the decent crack at adult hood that was stolen from me. I'm going to see a specialist sometime soon who may help to shed some more light on what is going on. I am so excited! I can't imagen what it will be like to not have to live in fear and terror, and to finally be understood. I really look forward to not fighting all the time. I can just .... be!! YIPPPEEEE! Blame it on the Boogie .... |

That's great Bedge! Now you have to let us know what the specialist is going to do for you.

Well, I'll celebrate finally having an answer with you, with back pats and everything!
I've had my share of migraine equivalents, and they can be rather bizarre, because you can feel so out of sorts. But now that you know that's what you are going through, it should get easier to reassure yourself when it's happening, and you can work to find a regimen that works for you. Bedge,
I'm glad you're on the road to a diagnosis. When are you seeing the specialist? You still need a more definitive diagnosis. "Migraine equivalent" is not a diagnosis, but it is a term that is used by different doctors to mean many different things. Hang in there. You're on the right track.

Thanks so much for all your replies!
Well, my GP has told me he doesn't know much about migraines (don't you just love a actual Dr who is honest!). So I am off to see a specialist that my mum has heard of, as she works for a Dr aswell. I am really excited to weed through all my anxieties and other issues and get to the root of the problem and actually deal with it and see it for what it is. I am also aware that migraine equviliant needs to be further explained. I'm am still in the mind frame of having this feeling of hope snatched away from me at any second by some other Dr. But the proof is there, I have responded so well to meds I still can't really find any info on the net or otherwise that seems to document what I go through, I guess this is what I am waiting for in order to believe that this is the answer. Proof! hahaha Thanks again for replies and support!! Blame it on the Boogie .... |

I love it when a Dr is honest!! I hate when they deny the published data like the PDR.
