Hi everyone,
I just discovered this board and site today! I am a busy mother of 2 who started gettting hormonal headaches/migraines about 3 years ago. I have struggled with figuring out the best treatment plan. I have been on Elavil in the past and stopped due to sleepiness and weight gain. I have also been on Imitrex, Relpax, Axert, Amerge and Prednisone. I have had big disagreements with Neurologists about the medications they want me on..... Glad to have found a place where everyone understands how difficult it is to live with migraines!!! Why are the doctors arguing about medicines? Is it some things you don't want to try? There are over 100 medications that can be used to treat migraine. Don't give up looking for a preventive. If you're worried about side effects, remember that the side effects listed are only POTENTIAL side effects. Nobody gets all the side effects, and most people have no trouble with them. You'll only see horror stories on the Internet. People who have working preventives get on with their lives and don't need an online community like this. Post about the meds the doctors have suggested in the Medications folder, and we can tell you if anyone has had experience with the meds your doctors are wanting you to try. Hope to see you soon!
