Using the computer is definitely a stackable trigger for me, particularly with the old CRT monitors that visibly flickered. But I've also had trouble with the newer LCD monitors, even when turning the brightness down extremely low.
In doing some research I discovered that the light source used in many/most LCD monitors is fluorescent lighting. As fluorescent lighting is one of my worst triggers (depending on the type and color of the lighting), it's no surprise I've had trouble with computers as well. Just thought I would share this here, in case you guys didn't know this. I certainly didn't. On a related note, has anyone tried the glare screens specifically made for the new LCD monitors? -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com "What will you do, if it does not turn out how you expect?" I had one of the glare screens for the LCD monitors at my last job- worked like a charm! They're more money than the original ones, but worth every dollar, and a great use of a company's ADA policy accommodations.
I was able to go from having to bring my laptop with me every day for when the work computer would start to trigger me and I'd be able to pull back to the point of return... and then use my laptop...to staring at the LCD flat screen monitor w/the glare filter on it for 8 hrs/day. BIG difference for me! Hope it works as well for you! Jamie Forum Moderator |

Wow, good to know, Jamie! Glad that the glare screen did such a good job for you. I think I will definitely talk to my doc and get a note so work will provide a glare screen for me.

Great idea MJ!
I personally don't trigger off of the computer - but if I do have a Migraine - I can't bear to look at it. Hope the glare screen helps! I should look into that anyway - I love the dark (ironic how when I was little I was afraid of it! LOL) and the darker anything can be (lights, computers, you name it!) the better I feel. I'm just your everyday vampire now! hah! I also was afraid of the dark. Now I treasure it at times. How strange... from thinking the monsters were out there in the dark to seeing the monster migraines get worse in the light! Jamie Forum Moderator |

Intriguing indeed. I've never had any trouble with any kind of monitor we've had in the past, either here or at school. I know other people have plenty of misery during migraines with theirs, though.
