I'm putting this out there to remind someone else who may feel over run ... maybe the reminder will help someone else too.

I am looking at my desk, Social Security, Business, bills, Insurance EOB's - oh and last years taxes stare back at me. Everything I need to do appears insurmountable; the piles keep growing!...

To be honest, I am overwhelmed!

It took my Mom to remind me that the mountain of "to-do's" I have here won't look so impossible if I break it up in to big goals with baby-steps of all the things to do.

My bittersweet moment - my baby; the business that my parents took over when I couldn't do it anymore has been sold. Closing in a month - lot's of stuff to get together in between!

Wishing you pain-free days,

Lynn

I've got to tell you, Lynn, that I feel much more accomplished today because of your post yesterday. You inspired me to tackle the Great Checkbook Balancing Feat. And now it's done. It's about the only thing I really ever procrastinate about, so generally my statements pile up for five or six months before I tackle it. This time was five, but if you hadn't have said something about small steps I probably would have put it off again, rationalizing that it was the middle of the month already, so I might as well wait for the next one. I know. Bad droolie. Smiler

Anyway, thanks. I'm done, and now I can spend my day off doing much more fun things.

Hi RA

I just wanted to commiserate with you about the loss of your business and about how overwhelmed you feel. I know how distressing it is to lose the business you've spent so much energy, time and love building up. It's an enormous blow, isn't it? You feel like you are literally losing something of yourself in the process - and it's not like a child leaving the nest because they are always somewhere around, in contact.

All you have left of your business baby is the tax bills, the paperwork, the files on your hard drive...(I have publications that I wrote also but I cannot bear to even look at them now: they are too much a reminder of how far I have fallen and how inept I am now).

One of the ways I try to look at the loss is to say to myself that this closure clears the way for something new and better. That's based on hard experience - it's always been true about 'one door closing' etc. At the moment, I have no idea what door is opening though - if it is I can't see it! And that's the hardest part.

Being overwhelmed is natural I feel. I think everyone would feel the same in similar circumstances. Thank you for sharing your feelings, it helps to know that you're not the only one struggling to get through.

Blessings and hugs to you
