I liked her a LOT... very nice...

The only negative part (not her fault), was that my hospital has yet to send her ANY of my records (MRI, etc.)... so, she had to go by the diagnosis they told me at the hospital, and I told her all of my previous/current symptoms...

She took me OFF of Topamax (it's still making me VERY manic)...

She put me on: Maxalt, Promethazine 12.5mg, Lyrica - starting at 50mg, eventually working up to 150 mgs, and Naproxen Sodium 550 mgs.

Plus, I'm still taking Xanax, Midrin, and Lexapro, which I've been on for awhile (well, the Midrin - about a month, probably)... I'm trying to make an appt. w/ my psychiatrist, but I guess their office is REALLY busy the first of the month - hopefully I'll get a hold of the receptionist today, or - she'll return my message...

What do you guys think?

I made another appt w/ her in 2 months, to see how these drugs are working, and so she'll FOR SURE have my hospital records...

She even offered to fill out FMLA forms for me, but I've got about 2 months left before I've been at my company for 1 year, so I'm NOT eligible for that, as of yet - but, VERY cool of her to offer, huh?

I'll write more later - I'm about to head off to work...

Group Hug to all.

Elizabeth

I'm so glad that your visit went well!

Yes, 2 months is usually about the time for a follow up. That way you can discuss how you feel on the new meds and see if it's working for you. It's a good more then mid way point to tell if the new meds are helping.

Don't forget though - if any kooky side effects pop up - you can still call her office and she can talk with you over the phone as to what to do. Just wanted to throw that out there, just in case, but I know you know that! Smiler

Good luck with discontinuing the Topamax and starting the new meds! I hope they work well for you and stop the increased anxiety!!!!

Keep us posted!!!

I'm happy your visit went so well! Thumbs Up

Thanks very much, Eileen... Smiler

Yep - if I have any issues, I'll be sure to give her a call...

I'm VERY glad to be off of the Topamax (the mania was driving me crazy!)... she said that the 5 hours of sleep (due to the mania) was probably making me have MORE migraines, that - plus the stress at my job...

I'm going to try for FMLA in April - when I've been here for one year... like I said, she offered to fill out the papers... can you believe that? She's VERY nice...

Thanks again!

Elizabeth, this is great news for you. I'm glad to hear you're coming off the Topamax - being on meds that make us feel worse instead of better is just awful! Keep us updated on how things go for you.

I take promethazine (25 mg) for nausea - it works wonders. It usually knocks me out within 20-30 minutes of taking it, so obviously I never use it at work! Smiler

Hi Elizabeth,

It sounds like it was a very good visit. The docotr listened to you, made a plan and that's great.

Now all we have to do is keep our fingers crossed for it to work!!

Thanks, guys! Smiler

Yep, I took the promethazine yesterday, (at home) and it completely knocked me out...

I just got to work, and I'm still not quite awake... hopefully I'll wake up soon! Smiler
