Hey. It looks like we may manage to pull of this travel for the holidays thing. Not an easy feat with all of my wife's health issues but its really needed this year.
Here is my question. Anyone fly our friendly skies with self injectable meds? Did ya need a doctor's note? Could you actually travel with the supplies need? (syringes, needles..) Any advice on this would help out. The airlines have been surprisingly clueless about this. Odd huh? Peace, Dave |

Dave,
I suspect that this can vary from airport to airport, but I just flew back from Dallas with injectables that I got at a pharmacy there. I put the vials of medication in a clear zip-lock bag and the syringes in my laptop case. Going through security, I put the plastic bag with the meds in one of the plastic tubs and put it on the conveyor belt. Nobody said a word about them. Once through security, I put the meds in my laptop case. I always have a dose or two of injectable meds and syringes in my purse. Nobody has ever questioned them. I do make sure copies of the prescription labels from the meds are always with them. Hope this helps! ![]() Teri Robert Lead Expert, MyMigraineConnection terimmc@helpforheadaches.com

Hi Dave,
In July, I flew with syringes/self-injectable medicine in my checked luggage no problem. I had them in a clear plastic bag. On the way home, our luggage was lost (and searched). We didn't get it for 24 hours. But, the meds were still in there and no one said anything. Hi Dave,
I haven't ever traveled with injectables, but I do travel quite a bit. Here is a link to the TSA website describing the current rules for carry-on liquids and gels: 3-1-1 rules for carry-ons This page does explicitly say that prescription meds are exempt from the 3-1-1 rule. Normally you have to declare them, which I would think means you just tell the security agent that you have prescription meds. I would also suggest that you package them separately so it is easy to take them out, and do be sure you bring a copy of the prescription label. Hope this helps! Glad to hear that you and Sol can manage the travel this year. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ Why do I capitalize Migraine?
