I thought it best to start a new thread about this topic under the Medications & Treatments subsection. Teri, it doesn't surprise me at all that a substantial percentage of people with normal tension glaucoma suffer from migraines. I read that in the book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Glaucoma, by Dr. Gregory Harmon. When I have a migraine it usually hurts behind my right eye. That is the eye that has the visual field impairment. The last two times I visited my opthamologist I had a migraine and my IOP was elevated. When I saw him the last time I didn't have a migraine and my IOP was much lower. The doctor thought I was still taking the Xalatan but I had been off of it for over a month.
I was just given timolol in the form of eye drops because my pressure readings were high and the high pressure is causing damage to my eyes. He said he feels the migraines are the cause of it. I also have the pain concentrating behind my right eye when I get the migraines. I'm lucky I guess that my opthamologist and my neurologist are working together and know each other!!!!
