I have just recently been put on neurontin, along with inderal and midrin. I have bad throat discomfort (feeling of having something stuck in my throat)and increase saliva. I believe that it is the neurontin that is causing this. Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks!

I am new here so any info would be great!

During my trial of neurontin, the only side effects I experienced were feeling tired and a little dizzy. I didn't realize until I stopped taking it how much it had dragged me down.

Your body may adjust to the neurontin in time.

I hope it works for you.

I just started on neurontin about 3-4 weeks ago. The main side effects I have noticed are tiredness and dry mouth. I am on Inderal as well. How long have you been on the Inderal? I am sure you will get more responses, but the best thing to do is to call your doctor and/or pharmacist.

Welcome to the forum!

Hi, Christy, and welcome to our forum family!

I was on gabapentin (generic of Neurontin) for about 6 weeks. I had been having awful trouble sleeping, so my neuro was hoping it would help with that and with my head. Once my body adjusted to it, I was still very drowsy during the day (I took it before bed). I didn't realize how dragged out I was until I stopped it. It also gave me dry mouth and made me twitchy.

I agree with Sherry, you should call your pharmacist or doctor if you have questions about side effects.

First off, welcome to the forum! Smiler

I took Neurontin a few years back on an as-needed basis for "neuro fluff". It made me feel really odd, as if I had a mild electrical current running through me, and also a bit hyped-edgy, almost in a low-grade apprehension kind of way. I don't remember it giving me a lump in the throat feeling or causing any saliva-related issues. I take Midrin as my abortive, and haven't had anything like that with it, either.

I'd say that a call to your pharmacist would be a good first step. They'd be most likely to know which of the three meds you've recently started might account for this kind of thing.

Droolie, I had something similar when I was taking gabapentin - the feeling of a mild electrical current. It gave me weird muscle twitches, which I didn't immediately connect to the new med. Once I came off it though, the twitching stopped.

That electrical feeling was creepy! It felt like I was covered in electrified peach fuzz that was standing up on end. It was particularly noticeable across my scalp. It wasn't pleasant, but it was mild and would've been tolerable if the Neurontin had done anything to help calm some of the neuro fluff, as we had hoped. Oh, well.
