I've had a mild (fortunately) but persistent migraine since Sunday morning. I think I had the magic four-hour break yesterday afternoon, but then was triggered by a scented candle--and scents have never triggered me before, so I must have been in a very susceptible condition.

Today I called my doctor, and she ordered a prednisone taper. I hate prednisone, but I'm desperate enough to take it. I started it this evening.

Wish me well. This has never happened to me before.

I am sorry about your persistent headache! My doc has talked to me about prednisone also. I had never heard of it before, but not too excited about the prospect either. Am VERY interested in how it works for you. Let me know, and best of luck!!

Group Hug and Fingers Crossed to you, Nut. I did a 10-day prednisone taper back in May. It did get my pain level down but didn't break my (very persistent) cycle. It did give me a huge amount of energy. You may want to have a book or something lined up in case you end up with insomnia. My doc had me take my two doses with breakfast and lunch to help the insomnia, but I was still up until almost 5 am the first few days.

I'll be thinking of you. Let us know how it goes, ok? Heart

Nut I'm so sorry you are going through this. Good luck with the prednisone. It can be tricky stuff, but if it breaks the migraine it should be worth the effort.

Keep us posted.

Good Luck

Good luck with the prednisone. I hope it breaks your migraine and doesn't cause any other nastiness.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Nutcracker! Steroid packs are No fun... but when they work, they're wonderful! Hope you can get through this one without most of the side effects!

Good luck, I hope the prednisone works, and maybe you can enjoy some of the excess energy it generates. I've been dreaming about prednisone of late--as the few weeks after that this summer is the best I've felt in ages. I'll cross my fingers for you.

Thinking of you and sending Group Hug Group Hug your way!

I sure hope the prednisone breaks things for you...

Definitely try to take pred in the morning (insomnia won't help anything!)!!!

Went to bed last night with pain at about a 1. In fact I wondered if I might be postdromal. But I woke up with the pain at a 3, and it moved between 2 and 3 just about all day. Now it's back at a 1, but after last night's experience, I have no idea what to expect for tomorrow.

No insomnia last night, and I feel like I'll fall asleep easily tonight. The prednisone has not been too hard on me. I know my doctor used the smallest dose she thought might work for me.

If I don't feel better tomorrow, I'll have to call and ask what to do if I finish the taper on Saturday (as scheduled) and the migraine is still not broken.

I'll update my ticker when this is all over. Just know I have a persistent migraine.

I think it's broken! Thumbs Up Of course, I'm massively postdromal, but I'll be OK.
