Fledgling |
I was prescribed Lamictal (25mg) last month after having a bad experience with Topamax. I suffer not so much from migraine pain but more with migraine vertigo and dizziness. I have read a report on the internet about a small study done that showed good response to migraine vertigo with lamotrigine treatment. Has anybody here had positive (or not) stories about use of Lamictal. My nerve on trying any drugs is low as I was so ill with the topirmate and have been putting off trying the Lamictal! However, have had some increase in vertigo over the last week, a migraine headache and other rumbling headaches so am now thinking I should give the meds. a go.
I must sound quite cowardly to those of you who try so many meds, but I am naturally a stupidly cautious person frightened of taking risks. It is too easy for me to convince myself that if there is a bad sie effect that I am bound to get it!! Any advice on experiences greatly welcome. Ali |

It's normal to be nervous about new meds, expecially if you've just had a nasty reaction to one.
Even though trialing is a big hassle and not very much fun, I always do it anyway. You have to hold out hope that eventually you will find the medication that works for you with managable side effects. Back when I had a working preventative, I had maybe 1 migraine a month. It was fantastic. Without a preventative, I would have a migraine every day. Trying the meds is worth it to me because I know that if it works, my quality of life will be a million times better. I've had a lot of failures and bad reactions but really I just want to live a better life. You just have to decide for yourself if the symptoms you are having impact your life enough that you're willing to take a risk to try to improve it. Also, if a med goes badly for you at least the side effect will wear off. I haven't tried this particular drug, but others will be along who have I'm sure. Good luck. Laurelin Laurelin |
