My company had layoffs yesterday. I was not laid off. I had to watch 9 people I work with, some very closely, many I count as close friends, have their jobs taken from them. It was awful. They are outsourcing the jobs to India. The company is keeping enough people in certain areas to oversee the work in India. My job, for now, is safe. Once the contracting firm knows the software and its functionality I don't know if that will still be true.
The Zonogran I have started may be causing a bleeding problem and I have labs to have drawn this morning. But the good news as I have started a more normal does of that the migraines are subsiding. So lets just hope I really hit myself harder than I thought and that's why the brusing. I'm sleeping, on less Topamax and more Zonagran my brain is actually rather clear. I still have trouble finding words sometimes, but it really isn't as bad and did I mention I'm sleeping!! Ok, I do have to get ready for work and get that blood drawn. Thanks for letting me vent. I just want everything to settle down and be boring. Cindy |

Oh, Cindy!
What a rotten day at work! Thank goodness you stil have your job... I know just what you're going through. My DH works in IT, and has seen this happen many times. It's never directly affected his job, but he has seen MANY good programmers laid off.. Thinking of you today! |

Cindy, that's too bad about your co-workers. It's hard to see friends leave.
I'm glad the Zonegran is working and I hope you find out what's behind the bruising. Deb [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/] |

Thank you everyone for your support.
I found it very interesting at the lab this morning she said the results would be with the doctor this morning. The lab slip did not have a "stat" on it. But the tests were all for platelets and bleeding times (PT and PTT). So I guess if you possibly have a bleeding disorder they like to get that information to your doctor as quickly as possible!! Which is a good thing. Again, thank you. We are all still rather shell shocked and trying to figure out how we are going to deal with folks 12 hours ahead of us. And wondering how are friends are. I have to get some work done today, but it will be difficult to concintrate. Cindy |

So sorry about the layoffs. We had layoffs at my job about three years ago, and it was awful. Ultimately, most of my coworkers got to keep their jobs, but there were three who had to go. On their last day, one of them started crying, and my supervisor tried to comfort her and escorted her to her car. When my supervisor returned inside, I said, "Is Lori all right?" and she nodded. Then I looked at her, and said, "Are you all right?" and she shook her head no, burst into tears, and went to her office. Anyway, I do sympathize with the shell shock, worry about your friends, and difficulty adjusting to the new situation.
I'm glad the med changes seem to be a favorable thing for you. Take care of yourself. |

I have heard back from the doctor and my labs are normal. I can keep taking the Zonogran. That's good. I had been going through a rough stretch of mild migraines with lowering the does of Topamax and starting the Zonogran. I am now on the Zonogran 100 mg every night and since that has started along with the 75 mg of Topamax I've not had a migraine. My mind is fairly clear. My balance is ok (I danced Saturday night in heels and did not fall over!!), so all is good with that.
The layoffs ####. I'm seeing a counselor Monday. It's someone I have seen before who has been very helpful to me. The more I hear about what is going on the less I like it. But I need my job, so I have to see if I can come to terms with it. Everyone, thank you. You are wonderful, caring, thoughtful people. I hope and pray there are angels on your shoulders helping you through each and every day. Cindy |

Hi Cindy. I can understand the loss of employment. In December of 06 I quit my job. I was attacked over issue's relating to my wife's migrain's. I lost my temper, Believe me it's almost impossible to make me lose my temper. But I did. No notice nothing, I just quit. I found another job about A month later. Much less money yet we survived. 8 month's later I was asked to come back to my old job. Which I accepted. We definatly came to an understanding though. The point being. Although we get blindsided sometime's, Thing's normally work out for good people. Maybe not as quick as we want them to, Yet they usually do. I hope the best for you'r friend's. Reading about you'r med's, Marietta, My wife. Did well on zoneagram. But it would only work for A while then she would have to take something else. it was one of the best med's she took though as far as migraine relief. She can't take anything now except DHE injection's. She went to A very good migraine tretment center that helped her A lot. She was having so many rebound headache's on top of the migraine's they had to take her off everything. It was tough for A little while it's worked out pretty well though. She still has bad day's, But it's not 24/7 headache's.

Cindy, I thought I had posted on here already but I guess I haven't.
I am so sorry to hear about having to go through the layoffs. That must be really hard on you. I'm glad you've decided to see a counselor. I know I have trouble asking for help sometimes, but when I finally do I'm happy that I did. I hope that the counselor can help you through this. Time for some humor! Just think of it this way, working with your new coworkers: at least you know theres still going to be a tomorrow! Tawsha |
