Thought you all would like to see this:

Dear Mrs. WXXXXX:

Thank you for contacting me regarding health research and funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I appreciate having your comments and welcome the opportunity to respond.

I agree that public investment in research and health promotion programs is vital. The federal government plays a key role in that mission and it must remain committed to providing resources to find life-saving cures and prevent diseases like headache disorders . As the country's premier institution for conducting and supporting medical research, I support increased funding for the NIH. If we are to improve the health of Americans and improve the quality of their longer lives, Congress must be committed to provide adequate funding for health research.

Again, I appreciate your taking the time to share your views. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future regarding other matters of interest or concern to you.

All best,
Senator Claire McCaskill=

Wow, Thanks for sharing this letter, Deb! How encouraging to read it. I hope most of the senators listen to our letters and respond the same way! Thumbs Up

One of my senators is Barack Obama, so I can't imagine he'll have the time to be emailing me. Wink I just hope someone read my email and advised him to follow through accordingly.

I got a reply from one of our senators, Jon Tester, too. We know at least two of them are aware of this. I'd say that's a good thing no matter how you slice it.

the day that i get a response from either of my senators- on any issue- probably will be either the day that pigs fly- or that one of them was no longer a senator representing the state of north carolina....

I also got a response from one of my Senators, but it looked suspiciously like a form letter. She is on both the Budget and Appropriations Committees though, which I didn't realize. So hopefully she took some notice of my email.

Nice. They have a form letter and don't even bother to put in your actual name! It's one thing to not write people individual responses but you could at least pretend you did by putting in their name. Although to be honest I've never liked that particular sentator...

I could tell you all about my letter from Claire but I wasn't able to send my message. The notice about it came into my inbox on Friday and by the time I checked my email late that evening it was already too late! It makes me so sad! Crying

I got a reply from my senator as well! MJ your right.. It does look like a form letter. and it didnt sound near as positive as Debs!

I am going to include it here: MJ let me know if this is the same one you got! Im curious now!

Dear Mrs. Gabler:

Thank you for writing to me to outline your funding priorities for the fiscal year 2009 federal budget. As a member of both the Budget and Appropriations Committees, I am very involved in these processes, which are already underway.

As a U.S. Senator, I have the responsibility to weigh carefully the merits of various programs and to determine sufficient funding levels, while still maintaining the balanced budget we have worked hard to achieve. I take this responsibility very seriously, for I understand the implications that funding decisions at the federal level can have for state and local governments, and for Washington state residents in general. As you know, given current fiscal restraints, it is not always possible to achieve desired funding levels for many important programs and projects throughout Washington State and the rest of the country.

I look forward to securing appropriations for priority programs in fiscal year 2009. I greatly appreciate your input. As the 110th Congress progresses, please do not hesitate to keep in touch.

I hope all is well in Vancouver.

there was no signature, but its from Senator Murray Dont sound too positive does it?

Yes, Tawsha, that's exactly the response I got - the only difference being my name and city, of course! Head Banging

She got at least three, because I made sure DBF emailed her too! I didn't check with him to see if he got the same email, but I'm betting that he did.

Oh well, at least we know she got the email. Roll Eyes
