sometimes i feel like my doctor (i have two) and i don't speak the same language. and i know we both know English!
i asked my doctor about taking the new medication (...oh jeez i know im gonna mispell the name Namada.)

Me: i've heard good things about Namada, id like to talk about taking it.
Him: i only saw one paper on the medication.
and that is all he said. what kind of answer is that? i feel like he says the same thing to every migraine patient. b/c every time i am there he just repeats the same thing. so annoying.

at this point with preventatives i don't have anything to loose so im willing to try anything.

i came away from the appiontment with a script for Coragard. huh? im not convinced this is the best we can do. im going to wait and talk to my other neuro in three weeks. right now im on Keppra and Cymbalta but they have quit working.

i think he may have been a little shocked that i do my homework and that i actually knew this new med existed.
vent over, thanks for reading

I'm sorry you and your doctor don't seem to be speaking the same language. Sounds like it's time for you to take this quiz:

Is Your Doctor Right for You?

Good luck.

Hi JJ,

Sounds like after you take the quiz nutcracker gave you, it may confirm what you already know. Time for a new doctor. That answer could go down in the lame answer book........

I bet you've seen this article, so don't lose hope Migraine Preventive Medications - Too Many Options To Give Up!

Have you tried any trigger identification and management? I know that sounds like a no-brainer to some, but others are familiar with Migraine triggers. We have a Migraine diary you can look at HEREand our Migraine Trigger page is HERE.

What do you think?

Corgard is a beta-blocker, which can be excellent preventives.

As far as the Namenda and other preventives you've mentioned, it sounds like he doesn't do much research. Is he a *true* specialist?

i have identified some of my triggers years ago. and i try and stay away from them. i may need to do the diary again.

yes it is time to move on! i think he is just old and lost his umph to help people.

i was on corgard years and years ago, i was very sleepy on it all the time. i wasn't that impressed with the results. keppra has worked the best for me for a few years but it quit working a few months ago.
