I'm in Dallas and wanted to give everyone a quick update:

I got to see my favorite specialist, Dr. Krusz, today! We sat in his office and talked for over an hour. It was great to see him again. I let him know how beneficial the Zanaflex has been for me; it's helping me sleep and reducing my pain. We decided to keep it in my treatment plan. However, Maxalt hasn’t been effective for me lately so he gave me samples of Axert to try. As luck would have it, I got a migraine this afternoon and was able to try it out. I’m happy to report that the Axert worked in less than an hour. Woo Hoo! Thumbs Up

I’ll also be starting Diamox once I get home to see if it will help reduce or eliminate the migraines triggered by the barometric pressure changes. I’ll keep you posted.

Tomorrow I go back in for magnesium IV therapy and then I fly out on Friday. All in all, a great visit!

Glad to hear the Axert worked, and so quickly, too. Axert hardly ever works that fast for me--but it does work, and with tolerable side effects.

Thanks for the good report!

This gives me real hope that Dr. K can help me make changes that will make a real difference in my headache frequency. I normally only have 1 every 10 to 14 days, but they last 3 days, and have to be aborted each day or they spike up to a high level of pain and don't come down easily. I pretty much told my primary what medications I had taken successfully and which I wanted to start back (when I started seeing him I had been taken off all preventives). DrT is an internist who is comfortable treating migraines, so this team approach has worked well so far, but a more experienced eye looking over my current treatment plan will be very welcome.

Glad to hear it Laura!!!

Cool that Axert worked so fast for you! I tried it 4 times and it didn't do anything for me. Too bad because it's cheaper for me then my love, Frova. Oh well, I'm so happy it's working better for you then Maxalt!

I love it when things work!! LOL

Laura,

Thanks for checking in! Dr. K. called me this morning and mentioned that you were there. Of course, he's not going to tell me anything specific about your treatment, but he did say you're there.

I'm so glad things are going well for you. Zanaflex has really helped my sleep a lot. I'm so glad he got me started with it.

hugs!

Laura,

I am wondering if you would share with me why you are having an IV treatment when you are not in an acute episode? Maybe you are and I missed it!!

I learn more and more about treatment and our disease all the time and I appreciate you sharing this information.

Hi everyone and thanks for sharing my excitement with me! I'm all finished at Dr. K's and gave everyone their much deserved hugs. Now I'm kicking back in the hotel room.

The weather is going to get icky here tonight Rain lets hope it doesn't get to horrible or this Yankee will be hiding under the bed LOL.

Cindy-I had blood work done the last time I was here in January and he found, among other things, that my magnesium level is extremely low. Since I'm here, had a migraine last night (hangover today), I decided to take the opportunity to get the IV therapy. It worked like a charm and I feel no pain at all. Even the aches in my shoulders and neck are gone. Thumbs Up

Valerie-Yeah, you'd think after living in Louisiana I'd be used to tornado watches and warnings but now that I live in Virginia, I still cringe during thunderstorms. Two tornados was enough for me thank you Wink

Seriously though, they did say it was going to move through quickly. Thanks!!
