I am in better spirtis and cannot wait to leave for Dallas to see
Dr. K on Monday. They called today to confirm. We also received our paperwork today and I was amazed at all the questions. I was worried that we would be able to log everything down so we could be very thorough when we talked to him but the paperwork doesn't seem to leave anything out.

If there is anything you can think of that I should ask him or get info about I would love your suggestions.

Sarah is feeling better today and succeeded in not taking DHE last night. I think she is stubborn like her mom.

Melanie,

You can expect him to go over all of that with you too. He'll ask about her sleep patterns and quality of sleep, so you might give that some thought before you go. Don't be surprised if he wants some blood work such as thyroid function and vitamin D levels. I spent a week in his office in November, sitting in on appointments with him and learning. I've never seen such wonderfully complete first appointments.

I think he'll put y'all at ease very quickly. In addition to being a wonderful doctor, he's a truly kind and compassionate man. I've seen him sit at home and review patient notes, trying to think of more to help patients.

We'll be watching for your report when you get back. ;-)

Hi Melanie!

I'm so glad you guys have an appointment coming up soon! Thumbs Up

I'm not sure if this is mentioned in the links Nancy and Nut gave you, but I think you should DEFINITELY ask:

1. Is there a particular HA/migraine diary format Dr. K. would like you to use? Keeping a journal of frequency, triggers, abortive meds taken, etc. is often extremely helpful for your doc!

2. Be sure to THOROUGHLY go over your daughter's meds--current ones and past ones. If you're making any changes during the appointment, make sure you write down the dosing directions so you'll remember them clearly! (And remember to get a plan if she's going to go off of any of her current meds...Many migraine meds must be stopped gradually, not all at once.)

3. What should you do if your daughter has a migraine that goes on for more than 3 days (i.e., does Dr. K. have an emergency plan he wants you to follow)?

Those are just a few thoughts.
I sure hope you have a terrific visit!
Make sure you check in with us when you return!

Thanks for all the advice. I have either printed the link info out or copied and pasted questions from you guys and printed them.

I can't wait to get back with you. I can't believe how excited I am about this appointment and I really think Sarah is too. I will be able to tell better when we sit down this evening and start answering the questions from his paperwork.

Melanie,

I'm so excited for you guys! I can't wait to read the update when you return.

I think you are going to be very happy with Dr. Krusz and his staff. They are all so warm and friendly. You can tell they are truly compassionate people who want to help. You're going to feel right at home.

I may have suggested this already but just in case, you may want to bring a recorder to the appointment. (Teri gave me that brilliant idea)

Good luck Monday!!!! Group Hug
