Migraine

I have some dear friends who face having to hand their grandchildren back to their uncontrolled, unmedicated, neglectful bi-polar daughter. My friends have practically raised these children, on and off, 5 and 2, and are finally trying to get custody of them - in the meantime the daughter claims she needs protection from the children's father and is proposing to move halfway across the country with them (and not give my friends her address, etc). The daughter goes out at night and leaves the children alone, doesn't feed them, etc. She has just had a 3rd baby with a 2nd boyfriend, who doesn't want the baby, or the older children... it's a horrid mess. She is also an uncontrolled diabetic and has come near to death in two of her pregnancies.

These are good, wonderful people. They have another daughter who is in great shape and does everything she can for these kids too. They are wonderful parents and grandparents, and have done everything they can for this daughter, whose uncontrolled mental illness has just torn everyone up. Any prayers, good thoughts, positive vibes you can send their way would be much appreciated.

I hope everything works out for the best. It is really sad when you see people use children as a weapon. I wish them all the best.

All of the above for them. Sigh. I hate it when small fry have to suffer for circumstances they shouldn't have to be in like this.

Good news update -

My friend sent a happy birthday email to my son today, and said he was writing with his granddaughter on his lap and his grandson next to him. So we knew the children had not been taken away.

Later I got an email saying the children are in his and his wife's custody temporarily, by court order. The social worker who supervised the daughter came forward this week and reported all the neglect and endangerment of the children that she had left unreported for the last two years!!! No-one has even begun to deal with the issue of what to do about the newborn. Our friends are at the beginning of a long process, with many hearings and evaluations to come, and two severely traumatized children to care for and help, but it is a huge relief anyway.
