Migraine

Heavenly Father,

We come to you today sad, yet undefeated. Today, we thank you for the life of your child Gretchen. We thank you for having her in our lives, for all she gave us, shared with us, and the way she cared for us.

We trust that you have welcomed her into your presence, and for that we are also thankful.

As we struggle to accept and understand losing Gretchen, we ask for your grace and comfort that we may be a presence in the lives of others as Gretchen was in ours.

To Gretchen's family:

As we come to the time of year when we honor St. Francis of Assisi and celebrate the blessing of our animals, which Gretchen so dearly loved, I offer up this prayer for her.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
