Charleston, SC & surrounding communities lost nine of our best last night when a local sofa store and warehouse collapsed in an intense fire. I didn't know any of the dead, but a young friend of mine (friend of daughter Kat, Kat being fellow Migraineur) was apparently helping to fight the fire.

That incident was just awful and it was the highest loss of firefighters since 9/11.

I feel for them and hope all their families are ok.

I'm praying for them and their families, too.

My brother was a volunteer fireman for several years. We were always concerned about the danger in fighting fires.

I heard a sound clip from the fire chief, who said that the men died doing the thing they loved to do: fight fires. And they saved two employees who were in the building.

The news was a blow to the stomach. My brother is out of town. I hope the PR gal at work got in touch with him before he heard it on the news.
