DBF is going for a colonoscopy on Thursday afternoon. He's had an irritated/itchy butt for a few months - finally had it checked by our PCP, who referred him to a specialist. He went to the specialist a few weeks ago, who did an exam. Saw some blood in his stool so he wants DBF in for a colonoscopy just to make sure it's nothing serious. I'll be taking him to his appt since he won't be able to drive after.
I'm not a big one on prayer, but DBF is. Any thoughts or prayers you can send our way are most appreciated. Obviously it's bothering him a lot since he was willing to have someone look at it. (Typical guy, right?) I'm sorry I know it's not funny but I had to laugh when I just thought of writing "you and DBF and his itchy butt will be in my thoughts"
but seriously - I know that men - heck I don't think any of us like anything going on 'back there' so I would be freaked out too!!! My mom had one - you get consious sedation so he probably won't remember and will fall asleep. Good luck to DBF though! I'll be thinking of you guys and sending positive vibes!!!!!! Sending you and DBF all good healthy thoughts!
BTW I like your little animal avatar - that's a new one, isn't it? I can't tell if it's a kitty or something else. - megs Free our brains from migraine pain my blog: www.meganoltmanfreemybrain.typepad.com E-course on Managing Life with Migraine at www.takebackyourlifefrommigraine.com |

MJ, Thanks for sharing about your DBF. You both will be in my prayers. And I'll be thinking of you all on Thursday. Both my parents have had colonoscopys. Like Eileen said--very sedating. Let us know how it goes. Give him hugs from your family here. And here's a

The test is actually a piece of cake. The only hard part I had was the prep beforehand. That stuff is vile.

MJ,
I'll be thinking of you and DBF! Sending out lots of happy thoughts!! I've never had a colonoscopy myself, but my family members have had lots (colon ick runs in my family). They all said just what Droolie said--the stuff you have to drink the night before is rotten. But last time my brother was allowed to take pills rather than drinking the big pitcher of stuff!! He said it was much easier with the pills!! Keep us posted! |

Thanks, everyone, for the thoughts and prayers! Please keep them coming. DBF has to do his prep tonight, then I bring him to his appointment at 11:30 tomorrow morning. I'm bringing my knitting to work on while in the waiting room.
I'll be sure to post an update once we know more. Knowing we have so much support here is making it easier. Thanks, Megs! It is a little kitty, our kitten (named Madcat), when he was just 4 months old. He's a cutie! -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ “HOPE CAN GROW FROM THE SOIL OF ILLNESS!” This is the theme of 2008’s National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week in September.
