at suicide. She posted on the Meniere's board I participate in.

People with Meniere's have a high suicide rate. I know why. It is just about as close to living in hell as you can imagine. No end in sight for the disabling symptoms, you know you'll live a hundred years with it, and frankly it wears on you until you can't deal anymore.

The board got her onto the chat and tried to talk to her but she was virtually unresponsive. No one knew how to contact her or even where she lived. She had said her husband was there but suicidal people are very good at saying what people want to hear. I can speak to this--we've had 5 suicides in my close family.

No one knows what happened when she suddenly signed off. She had said she was bipolar and had stopped taking her meds because they aggravated her Meniere's symptoms. I can certainly understand that--Zonegran did the same thing to me which is one reason why I take verapamil now.

Her name is Alisa.

Please, if it is within your belief system, pray for her and everyone who has to deal with Meniere's Disease. It is an unimaginable cross by itself, never mind adding a co-morbid condition to it.

I will keep your friend in my prayers.

Can I ask, what is her treatment? My migraine MD treated a man with Meniere's and he used IV histamine treatments, two IVs at every visit but I don't know how often he went.

She's ok. She checked into the board a little while ago.

She suddenly left the chat because she was overwhelmed by her emotions--positive ones, prayers she was feeling, love that was being poured into her through the chat.

Thank you, more than I can express. Love transcends all. Yes

Don't know her treatment. I take dyazide and valium every day, and anti-vert as needed.

A Meniere's diagnosis, to be correctly done, should be done by a particular type of ENT called a neurotologist. It requires both an ENG and an ECog, both types of tests for vertigo triggering and vestibular damage. Not a lot of neurotologists around, I'm afraid. I was lucky to get a referral to one who did both tests and an MRI with contrast of both my auditory nerves on the same day and read all the test results. When I went home, I knew exactly what was wrong. No waiting for test results or someone else to read them. He knew exactly and I left with my scripts and a game plan.
