When I got a divorce 30 years ago, Joan, my ex husband's mother called me to tell me that I couldn't divorce her, that she'd always be my mother. And she has been. She's been more a mother to me than my own mother has or ever was.

I got a call from my ex in the wee hours of Sunday morning telling me that Joan had died. She'd been in the hospital with pneumonia for a couple of days, but nobody had called me because it supposedly wasn't serious. My ex and his sister had been at the hospital visiting and gone home. They'd only been home about an hour when they got the call from the hospital.

Anyway, it's really hitting the family hard, and they are still my family. We privately spent a bit of time saying good-bye to her at the funeral home on Sunday. She didn't want any type of memorial, just a family party. So, Saturday, we're all getting together to remember her. They asked me to make a big pot of my chili that she loved so much.

If you'd keep Steven (my ex), his brothers David and Simon, his sister Linda, and the rest of the family in your prayers, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks and hugs,

Teri,
As you probably know, you've got all of the wishes, prayers and good thoughts that are out there- all heading your way from North Carolina.

Enjoy the day with family, and I'm sure she's watching, nodding her approval for the day's plans.

Gentle hugs,

Jamie

Oh, Teri!

How sorry I am for y'all's loss!

OF COURSE I'm praying for Miss Joan's family. And, OF COURSE, I'm including you in those prayers.

Miss Joan, I'm sure, is where I hope to be when my time comes.

With all my love and hugs,

Rebecca

I hope things are going OK...I stumbled into this folder later than the others, so I apologize.

I think about you every day Teri so even though I didn't know about this I want you to know I was still with you.
