Migraine

My SIL just graduated in May from medical school. She has been in her year of interning since July. But, the 80 hr weeks have gotten to her and she just has not been able to do it. She got so depressed and so physically sick from attempting to do it all that she became suicidal. She took a month leave from her internship and saw physicians and psychiatrists and they all told her that it would be best for her if she didn't continue with the internship. It is definitely something that she needs to do for her health.

But, she is really devastated at not being able to chase after her dream. She worked so hard in med school and to come this far and have to stop is really sad for her.

To complicate matters, my DH bought a condo for her to live in (in L.A.) while she was in med school. She moved out for her internship and we now have the condo on the market. But, she feels really guilty that DH supported her so much financially and she feels she's letting him down.

My MIL called and told DH today. Of course we understand how health issues can affect one's ability to work (I'm not able to!). We are really just sad for her that she cannot do what she wants to do with her life and follow her dream of helping people as a Dr.

So, I guess I'm asking for good thoughts and prayers for her. She needs to find another job ASAP. She used to be a computer programmer so she's trying to find something in that field.

Oh Kelly how difficult this must be for her. Perhaps as time goes on and she is able to regain her health other areas of health care will open up to her. I cannot believe her education in medicine will be not be put to good use if this has been her dream.

She is lucky to have such a loving and understanding family. My thoughts and prayers go with her.
