The last week's been very much a whirlwind around here. Out of the blue, and completely unexpected, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She'll have surgery a week from today. Prayers, vibes, thoughts, and all that jazz are greatly appreciated.

OK, Droolie,

Your mama is in my sights! I'll keep storming heaven for her.

My MIL is a breast cancer survivor. Her mama was a breast cancer survivor for many years. Granny Bird (her given name was Birdie Rachel, honest!) was also an insulin-dependent diabetic. Mom's mastectomy was 3 years ago. She's doing fine.

Where does your mama live? When can you spend some time with her? When do you get out of school? (I'm done 4 June.) I'm guessing she's about as hard-headed as you are?

My mama asked her surgeon if she could get back to driving 3 weeks after her mastectomy. He said OK, thinking she meant she was going to drive to the grocery store. Oh, no! She drove to Dulles to catch a flight to Europe to do research. That doctor was furious! (We live about 400 mi. from DC!)

Wish I could bring your mama and you down here for her recovery! Plant her in my hammock between long walks & exercizes, & you in the hammock when she's not in it. Take y'all downtown, etc....

Anyway, I'll keep praying.

Rebecca (who has had 2 biopsies come back negative,
and asks EVERYONE to keep their mammograms updated,
and reminds our gentlemen that men get breast cancer, too!)

Lots of Group Hug and Heart and positive thoughts coming your way. Also, I wanted to tell you that Susan G Komen is one of the major charities that my office does. One of our partners lost his first wife to breast cancer, and his second wife is a survivor. (He met her through Komen.) Over the years we've donated a lot of money and time to them, between Race for the Cure and the golf tourney we put on for them.

You know we're all here for you - let us know if there's anything we can do. Heart
